That makes zero sense.
What if the person can't be an organ donor because they have hepatitis, HIV, sickle cell, tuberculosis, or some other condition that prevents them from donating organs or giving blood?

Were they a donor before they got hep, HIV, sickle cell or tuberc? Most people would get these things much later in life. Unless you are a gay, living in San Francisco in which case you might get HIV or hep before 18 yo / 16 yo. In which case obviously its not their fault that they got a disease hindering them from being a donor before they needed a donation. Well it was their fault, but its a different scenario being played out.

If they weren't a donor and then all of a sudden got tuberculosis when they turned 50 and they are like "oh shit I should of been a donor cuz now I need lungs"

Well fuck them. You should have been a donor during your whole life.

Case by case.

Speaking of ignorance...

It's just one example. Obviously you can be born HIV pos and obviously can't be a donor. Which is why i clearly said it was case by case. Easiest way is just make it the law then everyone is a donor.

gee thanks. I'm not a donor. I don't want to donate organs when I die nor do I want to receive any if I become ill.

If they make organ donating law they should then remove the seat belt and helmet laws, more deaths = more organs.

You must be a Republican...they're always trying to tell people what they can and can't do with their bodies.

😛

The kiddies are riled up today! 😀

I didnt expect controversy. Its a personal choice. You dont need a reason IMO.

theres really no justification for not donating organs

the only thing ive ever heard is that someone is paranoid that the docs will let them croak if they get in an accident

if you are more concerned with that than the fact that you can save a life i really dont feel too sympathetic if they did cut you off quickly

Nobody has to justify it. It is their choice ...respect it.

Medical conditions would make it so checking or unsticking most likely leaves the same results of my organs being unusable. 🙁
In truth very few if any could actually be used, at least not the main ones anyways.

Luckily I live in the US, where you dont get to decide if there is justification or not.

Ok, "proposed sketchy legislation". Specifically the ambulance chasers and proposal to change donating to an opt out instead of opt in.

Honestly, I don't see a problem with changing donating to an opt out. People will certainly get pissy here, about it.

Further, I'd like to see organ donating a requirement for obtaining your motorcycle license.

😉

Why does anyone really care? After I'm dead you can have whatever you want from me. If you want to put my dick in your dresser, I don't give a shit, I'm dead.

It irks me that the state is essentially assuming its right to my body unless I state otherwise.
Instead of educating people on the process of organ donation and letting them make their own decisions, you're feeding on ignorance of the law. Hence, Opt out legislation is highly unpopular and does nothing to increase understanding or awareness.

If someone wants to be an organ donor, then by all means they should go out of their way to become one, not the other way around.
