Why do so many hate on those that have?

Do you really think every top dog that's high paid just woke up one day and was handed it?

Wouldn't you like to know that if you worked hard and were smart enough and played your cards right, you too could be a top dog one day making the money?

Why wouldn't everyone out there want to do the best they possibly can? Why hate on those that have succeeded?

I just do not get this mindset.

The guy at the top making millions in no way prevents me from working towards my own growth and improvement as a person, a father, a husband, in my career and in my finances.

Wasting my breath I suppose as it does truly seem it's all about upbringing and your POV on this subject.

Our companies are also some of the most innovative and successful in the world also. So what is the amount corporate executives get to make? How much? Give me a $$$ amount.
One baby immigrant for breakfast per day. Max.

I have no problem with executives that earned their way to the top. Even the bad ones. I have a problem with said executives being shit-terrible at their job, and that's most of them.

Most of them? So you're saying most companies aren't profitable? You do know that if a CEO is doing a shitty job the board and shareholders will get rid of them, right?

I just don't get the "I hate other people who make more than me, they're bad!" attitude. It's akin to a child who sees somebody with a nicer bike than them and the child automatically hates that other kid.

I think these studies are more targeted/indicative of the wealthy elite, or those in the top 0.1% of earners in our nation. They are so far removed from the struggles of the average person because they simply do not have to regard money in the same way. These are your big corporate CEOs, major investment bankers/managers, trust fund babies, etc.

You do know that it is more profitable for the CEO to do a shitty job as fast as possible to get that golden parachute that much sooner and move on to the next one, right?

The study linked in this thread used 90k income as the definition of rich.

It would be so funny if the same corporate knobs you slob decide to ship your job to India one day. It's all about the money, right?

Many of my past jobs have already been outsourced to India. I've simply stayed ahead of them by keeping my skills up to date and in demand. Do I expect a CEO to pay me $80k a year for resetting passwords?

But, since you brought it up. How to we keep companies from doing that? Taking all their profits and giving it to the government? We all know we can trust those in Government to spend our 'profits' wisely.

I'll just leave this here:

Michael. For five years now, you've worked your ass
off at Initech, hoping for a promotion or some kind of profit sharing
or something. Five years of your mid-20s now, gone. And you're gonna go
in tomorrow and they're gonna throw you out into the street. You know
why? So Bill Lumbergh's stock will go up a quarter of a point. Michael,
let's make that stock go down. Let's take enough money from that place
that we never ever have to sit in a cubicle ever again.

There are many rich CEOs that simply see numbers. The do not see people, they do not see families, they simply do not care. Part of that is what makes many of them very successful CEOs unfortunately. They are able to make heartless decisions.

What is the going rate on feeder baby immigrants?

my google-foo may not be up to par this morn, so no idea how accurate or valid this is:
http://www.aflcio.org/corporatewatch/paywatch/

2010 Average CEO Pay at S&P 500 Companies
Salary $1,093,989
Bonus $251,413
Stock Awards $3,833,052
Option Awards $2,384,871
Nonequity Incentive Plan Compensation $2,397,152
Pension and Deferred Compensation Earnings $1,182,057
All Other Compensation $215,911
TOTAL $11,358,445

http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Chief_Executive_Officer_%28CEO)/Salary
shows it to be more in the $200k midpoint among anyone who reports "CEO" in their taxes.

this has a top 20 table from 2007-2008 (that ranges from $190-$54 mil)

Why do few people ever mention the excessive salaries of athletes or movie stars?

Yeah. A lot of these guys completely gave up their younger years to be successful in their older years. They deserve it.

Athletes salaries should be paid to a percentage of ticket sales, that way they never feel exploited and they are still encouraged to win/perform.
Various permutations of this can exist so that you still have team loyalty preventing a win or starve situation.
