Anyone still stubborn like me and prefer CRT over LCD?

Being a big proponent of ergonomics at my workspace, and large monitors, the shear size of CRTs got me into always buying 'corner desks.' So.. right now, I have a corner desk and no real reason to buy an LCD since the CRT I have fits right into the corner..

I use a 19" LCD (1280, 1024) at work and a Sony G400 Trinitron CRT at home (1280, 1024) and I have to say I much prefer the look of the CRT.. To me, the CRT is 'soft' and the lcd is 'harsh.' I really notice this when using AutoCAD.

On my work computer, the LCD seems to obfuscate text under a certain size.. so I'm forced to zoom in farther than normal to read text in AutoCAD.. wheras the CRT displays text well no matter what the size in AutoCAD.

My G400 is hooked up with an analog cable (a quality shielded one) wheras my LCD at work is using a DVI cable (also a quality one)...

I always run LCDs in their native resolutions.. but while seeming crisp, I still cannot seem to prefer them for long-time use.

Anyone else think CRTs are just plain easier to look at?

I honestly do.

But I will probably switch to LCD sooner or later...

I haven't ever thought to myself "Man, I wish I had a CRT" since I got an LCD about a few years ago. My room is much cooler, plus I find the LCD easier to look at, so it's a no-brainer for me :p

i used to think just like you...until i just went back to my old p3 500mhz computer with a dell 17" trinitron monitor and noticed that its not "as clear" as my lcd (both are using analog).

i just cant go back to crt displays.

Thats what I said until I got a LCD. Then I was like CRT? whats that??

While I agree a good CRT still has the best colour, the other positives make LCD's the better choice for a lot of us.

lcd takes up much less space and has a nicer viewing space (1680x1050) Crt's are just tough to look at having gone widescreen. There is no going back.

Just a funny comment here. I've got a 21 inch CRT and five 19 inch Samsung LCDs.

You look at the LCD and think it must be light, but they are very heavy. It's kind of amazing. I wish they were light like a laptop screen, instead they're near 20 pounds.

I had a 19" IIyama that worked beautifully. Friggin thing wouldn't die so I couldn't invest in a LCD. Got tired, gave it away to the gf and bought myself the 2407WFP.

Wish I had bought the 30". The 24" doesn't seem as big as I thought for some reason.

I preferred my Mag 21" CRT, but my father forced me to use an LCD instead due to power usage. Lucky for me, he furnished the LCD for free. :)

I loved my 19" NEC and then tried to get a good 21"-22" CRT last year. After months of frustration with Azatek, I gave up and got a couple Dell 2007FPs for quite a good price and I'm very happy.

It took me about a week for my eyes to adjust to LCD light output, but after a week of discomfort I was in the zone :p

The discomfort I felt looking at LCDs was what stopped me from getting one for so long.

I have a 19" CRT at home which I like and a 17" LCD at at work which has decidedly poorer image quality. However, I've seen some LCDs in stores that look amazing. I'd love to have more desk space and a slightly larger screen, but right now it's not worth spending the money.
