Still plodding along with my 19" Sony CPD 420 GS with trinitron tube...Won't give it up till it dies, and then, only reluctantly...depending on repair cost...LCD's just don't look right to me.

I haven't seen an LCD yet that rivaled the CRT I'm using now for image quality.

Compaq P910, but it's just a rebrand of the 19" flat Trinitron tube (the best one Sony made, IIRC).

My Samsung SyncMaster 970p does quite an amazing job with the multiple games I've thrown its way.

I held onto my Sony 17" trinitron for the longest time because of similar beliefs, but after spending all of 5 minutes adjusting to my 19" LCD, I doubt I'll ever go back.

I hold onto my CRT because LCD screens hurt my eyes, give me a bad headache over time. Don't know why, they just do.

Same moniter here. I keep waiting for it to die. but it keeps going.

When it does I plan to get a LCD for my work comuter and move my Iiyama 22" over here for my gaming pleasure.

I switched to LCD for convenience when I went to college. I enjoy a quality CRT, but I don't "mind" LCD's picture, so I'm okay with them.

I will buy an LCD and replace a CRT anyday.

LCD's are cheap enough to maintain in most living standards. For less than 200 dollars you can trash a CRT and setup an LCD in such a short period of time.

Dell Ultrasharp, DVI connected to a Matrox Parhelia or 3Dlabs Wildcat PCIx16. It's over for your CRT, OvAHh the counter technological prescriptions for living today's standards to dump yesterday's miserable space-wasting, energy wasteful, bulky-looking garbage out of the office...

Do you see HD... um CRT's? Do you see .. the possiblity of ... more dmg'd eyes from a CRT compared to an LCD? I don't see laptops with CRT's?

CRT
Crying-route-trend

LCD
What more can I say? ...Liquid Crystal Display?

I just recently picked up a 3007WFP, and let me tell you, I VASTLY prefer it over the 19" Viewsonic CRT it replaced.

and yeesh lotta die hard crt in this thread, u can bet that isn't representative of the wider population.

i'd love to take a baseball bat to most crts if it weren't for the enviromental issues and stuff. i so hate that eye gouging cr@p tech.

Looking at a 19" Princeton CRT with horrible purity issues from being dropped 3 ft. face first by my uncle during house renovation.

DIE!!!- I want that 19" NEC LCD with Opticlear, or whatever it's called!

I loved my viewsonic crt for the longest time because it was quality and it is a prime choice for gaming.

But it weighed more than I cared and took a huge footprint. So when I came by an affordable, low-response time lcd, I made the switch.

I still do miss the high res and refresh rates of my crt, but the LCD allows me alot more space and comfort for my computing needs.

21" flat Trinitron here. Yeah I still prefer CRTs but LCDs have come a long way and when this baby goes my next monitor will probably be a good LCD.

I can't get past the geometry problems that CRTs have compared to LCDs. No matter how good your CRT is, the image is never as "square" as an LCDs. That's why most of them come with an array of image adjustments in the menu.

Kind of surprised the OP doesn't care about that, especially since he uses AutoCAD.

I have both side to side. Here's a pic of my Sony G520 and my Dell 2001FP
I use the CRT as my main screen. The colors and contrast just blows the LCD away, especially in movies or games. I remember watching silent hill on my LCD with my friends before I got my CRT. We couldn't stand it because the blacks were so washed out. It was like looking at a sea of gray. We ended up taking it to the old 20" tube TV in my brother's room. MUCH better.
Same with playing games. Doom3, quake4, oblivion all looks unbearable on the LCD after you've seen it side by side with a CRT.
LCD's have come a long way, but until they fix the deep blacks issue, it'll never beat a CRT.

What CRT have you used, might I ask.
Geometry is pretty much a non issue with a good quality CRT.

Last one I had was a Mitsubishi 22". I forget the model number. I bought it a few years ago, it was supposed to be the ticket back then.

I've also had some NECs and MAGs...

My question is why are there all kinds of geometry adjustments with a CRT monitor when all you have to do is plug a DVI cable into an LCD and have it be perfect when you turn it on?

The CRT looks washed out compared to the LCD. And dude, how can you drive with a big bar going down the middle of your screen?

BenQ FP91G+ 19" primary and widesceen Westinghouse 22W2 22" secondary = heaven :p
Before switching over, I used to think that the lower contrast ratio and fixed resolution would bother the heck out of me. Fixed res is not a problem (3D games @ 1280x1024? Meet X1900XT) and the lower contrast ratio is not really that bad since it depends on ambient lighting (ie. it'll look worse in a completely dark room).

as far as my eyes are concerned... LCD's are the best thing since the proverbial sliced bread.

CRT's hurt my eyes, sometimes give me headaches, and they seem to gently roast my face. LCD's are so much easier on the eyes so much easier

i could sit n type n CAD/CAM it up all day long and not feel any different to when i started

I have 3 crts and 1 lcd. The lcd is relegated to the crappiest internet only machine.

1600x1200 on a 19" Dell Trinitron FTW.

LCDs really just piss me off. Low native resolutions my arse. I prefer the resoluton to be as high as possible.
