OMFG

Cowboy Bebop in 1080p

Technically only the Japan BR is available at the moment; FUNimation says the official R1 BR is slated for release sometime this year.

Being the impatient bastard that I am, I ripped the Japan BRs and muxed in the US audio from my old R1 DVDs :)

You didn't watch it in Japanese? Fail :colbert:

It's a shame about Gundam AGE - I love the 4th OP (Aurora by Eir Aoi)

There seemed to be a pretty steady stream of good mecha (Zeta, 08th MS, G, Wing, SEED, SEED Destiny, 00, Unicorn), then it suddenly became meh (AGE - everything looks chibi-fied, Build Fighters) :(

At least we can look forward to the HD remasters of Wing, SEED Destiny, etc and already have Zeta and SEED in 1080p :)

Was unicorn a Gundam series? never heard of it.

It is a Gundam OVA. You may have seen it listed as Gundam UC. The 7th and final episode is due out in a few days actually.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gundam_Unicorn#Anime

Yeah, it's using the long-release OVA schedule similar to Hellsing Ultimate. You'll see in the link above that the first one came out about four years ago, but do be wary about reading much as the episode list does include synopses! If you're a bit tired of the current Gundam series like AGE (the "AC-like" stuff) and you prefer the older UC stuff, you'll probably like Unicorn.

I have, but in this case, I do prefer the English dub for some reason.

My old college roommate and I would always watch anime subbed, but if he originally saw an anime dubbed (like back in the Toonami days), that's what he would watch regardless of having access to the sub or not. I'm not the same way though. I mean... I originally saw Dragon Ball Z and Gundam Wing on Toonami, but I definitely do not Rock the Dragon anymore! D: On that note, I think they kept the original opening theme (Two-Mix's Just Communication) in Gundam Wing.

I'm reading Battle Royale Manga and it's a blast to read. Just finish reading volume 1 and I was wondering is there an anime for this series?

Don't think there's an anime but there's the live action version in Japanese that's pretty awesome. It's available on Netflix for streaming.

Gundams 0080, 0083, 08th MS Team, Char's Counterattack are all worth watching. Avoid anything that isn't in the UC universe, even Gundam Wing. Those alternate universe shows are nothing compared to the UC ones.

Hmm, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop (of course), Votoms, Dragon's Heaven (just for the art), Evangelion, Five Star Stories movie. Too much really to think of all of them.

Oh yeah, Macross Plus. My favorite anime ever.

I only watch dubbed. I'm too lazy to read, or learn Japanese.

The only two series I've watched are Cowboy Bebop (great) and the Black Butler (S1 good, S2 meh). With the occasional Fullmetal Alchemist episode.

Accel World

I checked this one out since it was by the same people that did SAO, but it just wasn't nearly as interesting at the beginning. Does it get any better a few more episodes in?

Eventually, you get good enough at reading subtitles that you don't actually have to try to read them. You just do it. The only thing that throws you off is when they put subs at the top and the bottom at the same time. :p (The top is usually reserved for things like translator notes.)

Can't be bothered with Anime.

I've watched quite a bit and most is just very niche. I think if you watch Cowboy Bebop and don't like it, just stay away. There will be a couple stand alone movies that Joe Blow could enjoy though.

Man... I haven't really check anything new in like years. There is just so much media in all forms nowadays and so little time. Anime is way far down on my list.

Dark Souls wins at the moment. Ironically, being a Japanese developed game, there are lot of anime style characters and delivery.

Haha yup. Higurashi and Another are pretty much you locking up a bunch of normal, seemingly well-adjusted, happy people in a room, only to come back and find that they've hacked each other to bloody bits :p

For that matter, I think we could add Blood+ to the list.

The first 5 episodes or so are the world-building ones, it picks up after that. However, it does suffer from the same problem as SAO - the second half / arc is not as good as the first.

I wish someone would do that for Macross Frontier, instead of rapidly alternating between the song lyrics and dialogue. Will probably get off my a*s and roll my own.
