Any of you hippies protest at Wall Street?

I agree that a lot of these people posting on this website are just looking for somewhere to vent about their failures. The photo you posted from the 2 time felon is fucking laughable. I wouldn't let these photos paint the whole picture of the suffering middle class though. You guys can keep talking about your personal success all you want...not everyone is born a entrepreneur. There needs to be jobs for the unskilled/mediocre skilled laborer so they can buy your services/ground breaking products. The path we are going down is leading us to a 2 class system....which isn't good for anyone.

Americans (especially the current generation) feel entitled to do whatever they want not what is necessary.

Want a job?
Move out to the central valley in CA and pick crops.
There are some great career options in the military with good pay and amazing benefits.

There are jobs - plenty of them - these people just feel entitled to do whatever they want, whenever they want, however they want, for a lot of money.

I am so sick of this entitlement mentality.

That isn't how the world works or will ever work.

I don't get it. I try to explain it to my friends who bitch and moan about not having what they want. I have exactly what I want in life right now. I work my job so I can have those things. If I suddenly wanted less, I would seek lesser employment because I wouldn't need to make as much money, if I wanted more I would do something to earn more to cover my expenses. Some are just so blown away by this, they just want to do what they want to do and get paid for it. Why should it be any other way? Morons act like I enjoy QAing software, it's a means to an end and that's the part I enjoy.

I agree 100% with this post. Immigrants took jobs Americans were not willing to do (though we could argue that the pay for illegal/legal immigrants to work may be below the minimum wage, which unto itself, the merits of the minimum wage can be argued too).

Social change has become necessary because we became the generation of the idea of entitlement. Our parents had everything because they earned their place in society in due part to their parents before them. Our society also "dictates" that we must live at a certain means, as social animals who own internet capable phones, nice cars, overly furnished homes with pre-made expensive furniture, and no one wants to or is willing to be the one to say "no" and actually take some action against such pressure.

What we need is a more personal world, more small businesses, with people looking to satisfy themselves with not only money but feeling like they did the right thing. It's a social issue, one that is fixed not by forcing others, but by setting positive examples.

opening up a new small business =/= opening up a retail shop in a mall

those are the dead opportunities I'm talking about.

anyway I'm over this thread. Those people can continue protesting, I don't give a fuck. I'll stay at home, collaborate with my entrepreneur buddies, and think of new opportunities. TRYING to become a corporate overlord instead of just bitching about how they're fucking me.

Right, so we'll rebuild a nation by all working out of our house. Maybe we should go back to farming or baking bread. I'll raise horses, maybe start blacksmithing out of my barn.

I should stop looking at the pics Patranus is posting because they're just disgusting.

I feel like registering shutyourmouthandgetafuckingjob.org so we can all post our own pics.

"started my own business and gained experience" sounds a lot better on a resume than "sat on the front steps of city hall for 6 months"

Too busy working my ass off to pay for my underwater house without defaulting.

But I'd be there if I could. That reminds me, I need to order them some delivered food, and send a small donation as a show of solidarity.

On a related note, I was in a Wells Fargo branch today (to cash a check from one of their account holders).

Ewww!!!

I was reminded of every reason why I closed out my Wells Fargo checking and savings accounts 7 or 8 years ago. It was just like the same old Wells Fargo, except worse, and I thought they couldn't get worse 8 years ago!

Credit Unions FTW!

I literally work on wall street. I do not make millions. I barely make ends meet. these douche-bag protestors make my commute a bitch. Stop whining, go take you shit to the white-house, get a job, and go back to the burbs. I bet half of you mother f***ers will be working for "the man" or will become "the man" once you graduate from your douche colleges. In the meantime, you are wasting MY tax dollars which is also probably paying for your wasted education and you will all become exactly what you are protesting against. And if any of you are truly emo, CUT DEEPER next time. We need to weed out the chaff.

To me, the chaff would be the criminals who, despite being already rich, were willing to beggar millions to become more rich.

blah blah blah. you keep looking at "aggregate demand", I'll look for markets with growing demand that I can exploit.

Maybe you should write a book. We have 14 million unemployed Americans nationwide. These are people who are not contributing, largely through no fault of their own or for lack of desire to work. These are people who want to work, people who are not spending money on goods, helping to drive demand for goods and stimulate the economy.

I dropped out of college, moved to CA and painted lines in parking lots for a year while learning to code on a borrowed laptop and an old C++ book. I got a programming job from the skills I taught myself and was able to finish my degree on the company's dime. I busted my ass for ten years and sacrificed my free time to continue learning. Now I make enormous amounts of money and with my skills I will never be unemployed.

I am the 1%. Fuck all you lazy hippies.

Grow up.

You are in financial trouble and you are going to pay for food, that food to be prepared, and for that food to be delivered?

<Insert Facepalm>

I'm still trying to figure out why people defend them?

They secretly hope to be them one day?

Or so they can feel some sort of connection to them. Like they are on the same "team," so to speak. If they actually were ever around rich people, though, they'd realize that they literally wouldn't even be acknowledged. There have always been peasant cheerleaders for the elite. Plenty on this thread.

Lets see what kind of conviction these people really have once the snow starts.

<Insert Double Facepalm>

I'm not in financial trouble, per se. I can pay the bills I have with the income I have, and have some left over to do whatever pleases me.

But tell me I have to move, tell me I no longer have a job, tell me I'm suddenly disabled and unable to work, then yeah, I'm pretty well fucked; the house would go back to the bank, and there'd be nothing stopping me from occupying Wall street with the rest of them.

I'm not in this world by myself, for myself--unlike a very greedy few. I'm better off than many. But I still care about those less fortunate than me.

Did "Wall Street" force you to buy that house?
