He did try, but it wasn't acceptable to the company, which I would like to know what company this is. Anyways, give it time, I'm sure he'll send it off.
making a BS offer is NOT trying. It's not the company's fault that the OP fails at bargaining and reality. he made an offer that was ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS LESS than a FUCKING BLACK FRIDAY ad from a local Brick and Mortar store, a bargain that likely was not even in effect when the OP made this "offer."
Anyone knows that BF deals are not price-matchable, and simply do not apply in real-world bargaining. The OP was simply being a douche. I'll go back and check, but I'm hard-pressed to imagine that he offered to pay more for the 46" set than he actually paid for the one that he ordered.
I dunno what the cost of the 46" was originally, and I'm not sure what he offered dollarwise. If shipping the unit back is going to cost them ~100 dollars, and if the box was opened, then how much should he have offered. I dunno, if I was in his shoes and actually wanted the TV then I would have searched what that tv was going for and subtract the cost of shipping. Maybe he went alittle too far with his perceived diminished value of it, but who knows what the company would say if you don't ask. From what I gather, he asked, they said no and gave him a counter offer, to which he said no. No harm done on either side. Do you fault the company for making a "offer" that the OP didn't see fit for the circumstance?[/quote]
He posted that the 46" was $1800 on the website. They offered to sell it to him for $1200--the lowest they had sold it for that year. They refused his piddly offer of $810, after he claimed that a local BF ad had it for $900 (he took off the "standard 10%" b/c it was now an open box. again: SUPREME DOUCHE--fucker opened the box himself, knowing it was not his TV)
don't forget:
1. He initially contacted them about the bracket that he also ordered, which hadn't arrived.
2. They asked him about his receiving the wrong set--OP NEVER intended to give the TV back, despite the dilemma suggested in the thread title.
3. posts on AT only after he had spoken with them, had decided he would not return it.
EDIT: I don't see how you missed these details, or even arguing in his defense when you haven't read all of his posts:

Ok all I'm calling these people back up to negotiate keeping this thing legitimately...
Comparable BF ads have the 46" at $900, so should I offer $800?

Ok I talked to CSR and they were unwilling to negotiate to a reasonable price.
I pointed out that today on BF the same model TV goes for $900 online and offered them $810 (accounting for 10% of a opened box item). The CSR said that the TV normally goes for $1800 on their website and that the best they could do was drop it to $1200 which was the lowest price they've had on this item this year. Unwilling to accept this price I asked them about if they had any special arrangements with USPS to pickup the item that they mistakenly shipped to me, but the CSR said that they would only send me a prepaid shipping label. So I asked what about the box that I ripped open!? He said that I shouldn't have opened the box and that I should do my best to "restore it to its original condition" and use the prepaid shipping label.
This is truly BS. They are not making it any easier for me to return this thing and they won't negotiate...
