Another botched execution, this time took 2 hours for him to die

I'm thinking a few rapid shots from a handgun at point black would be cheaper and more effective, but what do I know. Hell you could even make it robotic so no one has to actually be there. 😛

Give them a OD of morphine and call it a day.
I don't understand this either. Morphine and drugs like morphine are the way we kill normal people. My dad was given hydromorphone in his final days of lung cancer. It makes a person stop breathing, and then they die.

It seems like modern methods of execution are designed to be as expensive and cruel as possible. $10 worth of heroin and 1 bullet to the brain would be cheaper, simpler, and far more humane. We don't do that because it's too cost effective. See my other post about the republocrat plot to bankrupt the country and all of the states contained therein.

As Colbert said in "The Word" about an earlier botched execution, "If we're cruel often enough it won't seem unusual."

Capital punishment is barbaric, but that doesn't matter to barbarians, apparently.

The deeds of the perp are immaterial to that judgment.

The incredible expense involved in execution deters the truly rational from condoning it at all, but barbarians aren't exactly rational anyway.

Lots of other more constructive ways to spend the money while the perp lives out his days in lockup, away from the rest of us. Or is no price too steep to pay for vengeance?

It's those damn righties living in a bubble again...barbarians I say! Thought I would just cut to the chase for you and blame a political affiliation for "fill in the blank"_________capital punishment.

Failure to empathize with a convicted double murderer who took two hours to die in his sleep after twenty years of appeals is somehow "the same lack of humanity" as committing a double murder?

Nice one, indeed.

Now you're putting words into my mouth.

Empathy is not required to show a shred of human decency and adherence to the law.

I think I would still prefer this, myself, than the electric chair.

There are so many cheap, humane ways to kill someone, why do we cling to lethal injection? Hypoxia could be a cheap, easy, humane, non-violent way to execute someone. Or OD on morphine. Or just put them in front of a firing squad.

In theory I am pretty pro-death penalty. In reality, I think the vast majority of the time life in prison is probably the better option.

I'm very much against death penalty, but how hard can it be? Give the person some kind of sleep medicine, then a bolt to the head.

I am fine with the death penalty, as long as there is valid proof and no doubts of corruption/manipulation. But, this torturing bullshit needs to stop.

And, if people really do want to torture criminals, well, go ahead and push for that change. Since you believe something like this is perfectly acceptable in our country, go ahead and make it legal. You can turn America into Syria, Iraq or Russia; I am sure you would love that.

Because we have to be seen as "humane" and any type of violence in the act will be seen as cruel, even if the person who is being put down was a ruthless murderer.

Honestly, I could care less if the killer suffers. Even if he killed him victims quickly, their families have suffered mentally and emotionally from that point forward. They deserve to feel pain.

With my Dad's emphysema, they gave him morphine for 3 days (every 4 hrs) with no fluids until he died from organ failure. Pretty humane, right?

Exactly. People who are dying from cancer and shit go through far more pain than murderers who are executed. Because of this so-called "botched execution" they better not get rid of death row.

He shot and killed two people. One was watching while she was shot! The victims family has no regrets. They say he deserved it.

If one of my family members were murdered I would want the harshest penalty EVER! He snoored on his way to hell. Big deal!

I've said it before. Put them in a comfy room, give them a bottle of their favorite drink, give them a plate of their favorite food, put on their favorite tunes. Then pump the room full of CO. They'll drift off to sleep and be gone. Not even the cruelty of feeling a needle prick. You can't botch that up. CO is colorless and odorless. You drift off due to oxygen deprivation.

Heck yea.

Cram 10, 20, even 30 of them into a room. Instead of one or two a month, we could be doing 20 or 30 a day.

Could we imagine the international outrage if Texas was executing 50 people a day. Hell yea.

Then let's be humane. You and your mother can house and take care of all the serial killers. Cure them with liberal kindness and show us all how superior you are to the unevolved masses.
