Looking forward to the race. Possibility I may miss due to a business trip early Monday.

Hope no one minds that I am adding your names to my PSN friends list which is otherwise empty as I pretty much don't play online with others; exception being coworkers in the days of Diablo 2.

I am an EE working on a flight simulator for the JSF. I drive a 2007 Passat 2.0T / 6M / no mods. I try to make it to the Vintage Grand Prix and Rolex GT weekends at Mid Ohio in June but will likely miss them this year for the baby on the way.

I don't know if I can commit Sunday evenings to gaming but hope to meet you online for racing when I don't have to share the TV =)

Thanks,

Bob / PSN: unique_username (yes, that is pretty lame)

Edit: hope to see you in online Spec B racing, too. Just made up 2 brand new drivers.

Welcome aboard rdp6 :D

Hope you can make it on Sunday, we usually have around 10-12 people, which leaves plenty of room for another car. We have racers with all levels of skill, but everyone races clean and we have a lot of fun.

Watch this thread, a lof of guys post when they will be online practicing for the race.

A bit of possible bad news..I'm REALLY sick right now and will be going to the hospital soon (walk in clinic is closed) but I have no idea how long it will take (since I'm not dying I will probably be near the bottom of the list lol). If I don't post on here by 7:15pm CST then I probably won't be able to host it if velilen can't do it today.

Sorry to hear you are sick, hope it's nothing serious. Don't worry about hosting, we'll get it taken care of. Let us know how you are :)

I was just wondering how we're going to make sure the playing field is even going forward. The 1.06 update made it much easier to increase/decrease HP to match the HP limit in a room.

As far as I know it is not possible to see the HP of the other cars in a room to check if anyone's cheating, which really sucks, I don't understand why PD doesn't let us see each other's HP.

Perhaps we should use the PP system instead? Although not perfect it may be a little better at keeping things even. Any ideas/suggestions?

Well it turned out to be much quicker than anticipated. Doctor said I had "raging tonsilitis", but I'm filled up with antibiotics and pain killers now and feeling much better. :)

So I can host if velilen can't.

I don't see it being a problem, you have to run one of the GT300 cars which are all failry equal in HP and weight. The new update allows you to lower your hp, but not raise it. I really doubt any of the people we have on this league are into cheating, this isn't GTPlanet.

Glad to hear it wasn't anything serious :)

I don't know if velilen can or not, I'd say if we don't hear from him on here by an hour before race time, go ahead and open a room.

Has anyone noticed much of a difference between the level of downforce you're running and the max speed? I could put the downforce level down by 10 points both front and rear and I would still have the same max top speed. That doesn't seem right...or is it just that the cars are not powerful enough?

Oh and boshuter, what about the amount of laps? Monza gives a lap time close to but less than 2 minutes (unless I'm way slower than everyone else lol :D). 15 laps?

EDIT: Oh damnit I see that there's a 301mb update and the downloading is going real slow (<100kb/s..it usually isn't this slow)...says 60+minutes to update. Is this update necessary to race?

Not sure if the download is necessary, but I would say it is.

The race is 20 laps..... should be posted on first page. :)

Ah damn I don't wanna cancel the download to find out..what should we do? Can we delay the race a bit?

Or find someone else to host? I'm not even gonna make the start at the rate it's going. Sigh...totally my fault, I haven't touched GT5 since earlier in the week and there was no update at that time.

It's ok...... we are going to go ahead and get the room open, supersnake75 will host it.... we will start like a half-hour late to give you time to make it.

Oh man I don't want you guys to start late just because of me. If even one person objects to it then just start at the normal time. If nobody objects then heck yeah I'll be there.

Good job Atlas :)

Sorry boshuter, I think I took you out entering Parabolica (or was it a different corner?) on the first lap..I didn't realize you were that close on the inside to me.

Ironically parabolica took me out and gave the lead to Atlas, which he didn't give up. :(
:D

That 2nd chicane was just ridiculous...you could cut that way too much.

EDIT: Thanks again everybody for waiting.

Good race.

I need to somehow tune my car better for these long fast tracks we've been doing recently. I can hang with everyone else in the corners.. but those straights I get dusted.

What was your top speed at the end of the main straight? I could get up to about 158mph without drafting. Drafting helps a lot so with the cars so evenly matched, if someone is within 50ft of you, they're gonna be ahead of you for the next corner usually.

Around 152mph with drafting was as fast as I got.. and I had tuned top speed to be around 153mph. High 140s without drafting.

I think its a combination of too much downforce and just the wrong gearing.

Good race guys. I thought I was in deep trouble when I saw qualifying times in the low 1:50's and even in 1:49's (WTH??), I couldn't get out of high 1:51's. So instead of cranking out fast laps I tried to do a consistent race...ran high 1:52's and low 1:53's most of the race and it paid off.

Had a good battle with thilan mid-race which I was losing, he built up a 4 sec lead but then he spun in the Parabolica and gifted the lead back to me. In the final laps he started to reel me in again but ran out of time.

Yeah definitely your gearing plays a huge part...I had mine at 180mph top speed. Were you hitting the rev limiter in 6th gear a lot?

Yeah when I first joined I saw those times and was like wth, how am I supposed to get that?! The only way those times were possible was with massive cutting of the 2 chicanes. I ran some practice earlier in the week and I could get mid-1:51s staying on the track (ie. 2 wheels on tarmac always).

And yeah good battle...we kept swapping places, that was fun. Ughh...parabolica...Monza is one of my favourite tracks and what I've read is true, parabolica is probably the hardest corner on the track to get right. The slighest bit of extra speed entering and you're in the gravel on the other side, which is what happened to me, and catching spins like that with a joypad is not fun..wish I had my wheel with me.

Only hit the rev limiter in 6th when I was drafting in the first couple laps of the race. Had I set top speed to 180mph.. I don't think I'd have finished the race without getting lapped. lol!
