Yeah, i keep experiencing lift-off oversteer in a few places.. Turns out the solution really is to NOT lift off :awe:

No mechanical damage and no penalties? Sounds like a recipe for disaster...encourages corner cutting, pushing into corners, pushing out of corners, intentionally using walls, etc... generally doesn't make a good environment for an enjoyable race.

IMO we need at least light damage and weak penalties on.

we did no damage the first race and had no issues. penatlies were light and most of us who got them it was from tapping other cars or going off track to avoid someone so sort of meh. its really not needed if you actually have people who race by the rules.

Good race guys. I just couldnt make it happen tonight I guess. Somehow i managed to find myself backwards in damn near every corner; guess thats what I get for not having time to actually tune the suspension for this race :p

Plus i hate that track :p

Atlas pitted once and I still lost lol. Once I saw low 1:11s in qualifying I knew it was over for me...I just broke into the 1:12s. That Wedsport Celica was planted...I was losing so much time in the last 2 corners. :(

Is there a way to fill the car up with less fuel? Or is it full tank always?

Man..... I don't know how he was doing 1:11's, I'm like you, I just managed to get in the 1:12's. I was kinda keeping up with the front 2 until I spun coming onto the front straight.... from then on I just ran by myself in 3rd place.

I did get this race saved and have the runnning order. I'm still not sure what to do about the first race, we still don't know who was in 6th and 7th place..... what do you guys think?

About the points, we can award them as we know them. If anybody comes forward to claim 6th and 7th then give them the points?

Hope everything is okay velillen.

Thanks for a great race everyone. My concerns about running with no pen/no dmg turned out to be unfounded...very clean racing by most  I just had a couple of scary moments while lapping cars, looked like some were trying to race me...the last one was 2 laps from finish lapping an APEX MR-S side by side at 125 MPH into the last corner...

I had the fastest qualifying time but for some reason started 9th on the grid  Worked my way up the order in a few laps, built a 20 sec lead but started to get serious tire wear, car started to get twitchy and understeer so I decided to pit on lap 15. Reclaimed 1st about 3 laps from finish...

Hope to see you all next week, something tells me my "Deep Forest tuned" CELICA will have a tougher time on other tracks.

Yeah based on the first weeks race i wasnt to worried about the damage/penalties. its a bit different racing with people who actually want to race legit.

As for the qualifying i have absolutely no idea what happened there. It was set to the defualt Fastest First setting and for some reason through me in the first slot which i damn well knew i wasnt even close to! But i did just pull off to the side to let everyone pass since i totally woulda taken someone out in the first lap if id be up front :)

I watched the replay and seeme dlike a pretty good race though for most people it was over in the first few laps. Maybe only doing 15 laps no matter the course would be acceptable. I know time wise you'd wanted 30 minutes, but with most people outside the top 3 pretty much in their finishing spots by lap 5 its something to consider :) I dont mind either way since i knew when i saw 1:11 qualifing time id be just racing for fun since something told me my 1:17's wouldnt quite cut it!

As for the dad, more or less mom over reacting but he did have pneumonia so was at least fairly serious....not nearly as bad as mom made it sound when she called saying your dads toing to the hospital in a ambulance :) trying to race with one hand is also pretty challenging by the way :)

Glad to hear that your dad is ok :)

As far as shorter races, I'm not in favor of that at all, if anything, I'd like for them to be longer. If a race is very short you have no chance to catch up if you run into a problem early. If 2 drivers/cars are fairly evenly matched, it can even take a few laps just to find a place you can pass.

Everyone needs to realize that you don't have to win the race to enjoy it, I don't like seeing people pulling out or just sitting on the sideline watching once they realize they can't be the winner. If you watch any real racing, it's exactly the same, there are usually a top few that are always in front, but the other don't just drop out, they keep trying to improve. I believe the races will get closer as some of the less experienced guys improve.

BTW: That qualifying deal is something I've ran into a lot. It may be a bug in GT5 or something, but it seems like 90% of the time it doesn't get the order right.

I was worried about causing a crash and messing up places 2-6 who looked like they were running a rather tight race. Felt I was more in the way than anything. Definitely not as good as all the other racers here and didn't want to be "that" guy who stayed on the track and ruined everyones hard earned positions.

O was just an observation from the first two races. Seemed like after 13 or 14 laps everyone was pretty much in the same position they would finish in. I only wish you could go longer than 180 seconds for finish times just so slow ass people like me can still finish :)

I woulda kept going but meh had more pressing matters :)

Good to know it was a bug. i havent done much racing os when it put me out front i was just going uh i screwed something up :)

I've ran enough with you on that other series to know you aren't going to crash anyone if you can help it.... that's why I asked you to come over here to race. :)

If people pull out of the race, it turns it into pretty much a qualifying session, without the traffic to deal with there is nothing to slow the front cars down and give anyone else a chance to make up time on them. As long as you are racing your line, it's up to the faster cars to find a way around you, you are not expected to get out of the racing line for them.

Announcement:

First page is updated with new track and drivers standings are posted.

For the track this week, all hard/paved surfaces will be condidered part of the track. There are 2 chicanes that would be impossible to enforce not cutting them. These are cut in real life F1 races and I don't see any good way to prevent it. As long as everyone has the same opportunity to do it, it ceases to be an advantage.

^Good call about the chicanes. 1st and 2nd chicanes are cut in real F1 but the 2nd one can get ridiculous.
