Strange though, that it can run 1.7V with a Newcastle .... but there's probably an explanation for that. One can always do a hardwired V-core mod, if one is capable of that ...

so you are saying even though the BIOS shows voltage adjustments higher than 1.55V, the board is not capable of going higher than that?

Hi X2C,
Would you kindly inform me the exact model of the OCZ DDR Booster? Then we can check if have it on hand to test.

Thanks and regards,

morfinx, my board is certainly not showing anything higher than 1.55 in the bios. w1.4-bios. that is with a Winchester, obviously there will be different readings with a Newcastle as it requires more voltage by default. I would love to have it show higher settings in the bios ...

Strange, mine shows 1.7V as the max, W1.4 BIOS w/ 3000+ winnie. I'm also getting some unusual temperatures. With chassis temp being 24C, my idle is 36C, my load temperatre is 50C in just about everything (tv tuner prog, games, anything puts full load on cpu), and 58C in Prime95 small FFT test. I'm running at 2.4Ghz@1.5V. Any ideas Lydi or anyone else?

Hi X2C,
Thanks for the link.
Since there is no OCZ reseller in Taiwan, I made a request by the contact form on OCZ website to ask for a sample to test.
If I get the reply from OCZ, I will let you know.

Best regards,

I was just wondering if this board has givin anyone any problems. I was going to get it, but the layout of the board was the only thing that drew me off. But, If no one is having any problems I will strongly consider getting it today.

It is a very stable and fast board BUT it may not be the best match for a 3000+ if you like to overclock, as this board doesn't love high fsb. However, with a 3200+(10x multiplier) and above and some good memory you can expect a good overclock and very good performance if running 240-250 fsb in 1:1 with your memory. Very fast performance compared to any board. The 10x multiplier seem to be something of a sweet spot for this board, I have a 3500+ with 11x-multiplier but prefer to use 10x245 1:1 as it's great performance but also much more stable than ie 11x233 which isn't particularly faster. In every other respect I've had zero problems with the board.

Lydia,

Do the drivers, etc supplied on the CD work in Windows XP Pro x64 edition? I am having some issues getting the cd to work in a fresh install of this OS. Any help you can provide is appreciated.

There is no official x64-drivers out yet, and so there aren't any on any driver-CD. However, I can confirm that Windows x64 RC2(build 1433) works rather well on my rig. Only things I downloaded was VIA Hyperion 4in1 x64-Beta from VIAs site and Nvidia Forceware x64-Beta(from guru3d.com).

Hi Brettf1,
As Xeizo stated, "there is no official x64-drivers out yet". You can download the VIA Hyperion 4in1 x64-Beta to give it a shot.

Thanks and regards,

brettf1,
yes, I use Nvidia, 71.20-driver or something which works very well. Nice, to see Nvidia officially launched a newer set as the old 6x.xx they had on their site before that was both old and also buggy in x64. As when it comes to XGI, I guess they won't release any x64-driver until Windows x64 has gone gold. You could always try to mail XGI and request a beta-driver.

My card is a Leadtek Winfast A400TDH 6800LE 128MB retail, a very nice buy as I could fully unlock it's pixel pipelines and shaders by the aid of RivaTuner to 16 pipelines and 6 shaders. I reflashed the video-bios with a higher core-voltage, from 1.1V to 1.3V by the aid of NiBitor. I tried 1.4V but I didn't like the temperature-rise. The Leadtek retail-card have a beefy cooper-cooler as standard which have permitted me to clock it all the way up to 445MHz core 918MHz memory for benchmarking(had to disable throttling of the core for that). Standard is 300/700. I run 400/800 as 24/7-setting, which keeps the graphics-core at around 48C. However, one needs luck to get an unlockable card, it's not possible on all samples and not at all on the newer PCI-e cores.

Not sure if anyone else has this issue but I have 2x512 kingston hyper-x ddr333 the timings on these sticks id 2-2-2-5 so I have set it this way in the bios but when I boot into winxp and run cpu-z 1.2x it says 2-4-4-9 I can adjust them with a64 tweaker and then it registers correctly but after a reboot the bios settings stay the same 2-2-2-5 but when I boot windows its 2-4-4-9. anyone ahve an issue like this?

Does anyone know if I can use all four Memory slots with identical memory (4x512 Corsair) and still have dual channel? Right now I have 2x512 but I really want to expand it to 2 Gigs.

I currently own one of these boards.
Specs:
a64 3000+ winchester @ 2.4
HTT @ 270mhz
Mem @ 220mhz

I want to get faster ram but I'm concerned about the vDimm voltage. I know it has been asked before but...
Does anyone know if the OCZ DDR booster works with this board? If it doesn't I might be forced to try and sell it so I can get a board that it does work with.

Soltek is waiting to get a DDR Booster to test in this board and they will be letting us know, we just have to wait while it's done :)

Hi D3birth & X2C,
I have not gotten any response from OCZ company since I sent an email to them asking for sample last week. So I just sent a second one.
I will keep you updated.

Thanks and regards,

d3birth, I have my 3000+ now running the same as you and knocked my memory down to 220 as well.
What vcore are you running and are you using the stock cooler?

1.7V, that's crazy, i had my vCore at 1.55 and my temps were out of control, so I have it backed down to 1.45. What kinda temps are you getting with that voltage?

Oh, my temps are awful according to speedfan.

40+ idle
60 full load

I did just order an RBX and a nice pump though, should be here next week :)

If I lower my vcore to anything else it isn't stable. i dont' know what the problem is.

Oh, btw, my room temp is 17C/65F and below. I hate it but I need it this low to keep my cpu from exploding.
