Cash bail keeps streets safe. Letting people free immediately after arrest usually leads to the commission of more crime by the same people who are now free to commit it.

Repeat offenders should never be given no cash bail.

But liberal states just keep the revolving door open so society pays the price.
How does it keep the streets safe? The successful crooks can afford bail. Your usual money = morality nonsense is on full display here.

That's the hope and pray method. We hope that the police will find the person in some random interaction. The other method is to assign limited assets to actually finding the accused. If the person used a bail bond, finding them is handed off to a bounty hunter, another questionable system that does net some results, and lead to the creation of an ex felon bounty hunter that dressed up like a super hero with a mullet and spray can weapons.

I guess I have to stake out the controversial position that the police should try to locate people who have active warrants out for their arrest.

You're running an argument in circles..

You keep stating facts yet people "feel" that's not good enough or effective. And the suburbs in New York where Republicans flipped districts in a normal dem environment is proof of this.

If you could have won the argument on facts.. you already would have.

What do you want to win? Elections or Facts?

Has nothing to do that most of the NY Dem political machine is a fucking mess and Hochul basically forgot to campaign. The poor choices of state level politicians on electoral strategy don't necessarily mean what you say they do.

The basic argument here seems to be that people released before trial will go commit more crimes if they are let out but that’s fine so long as they pay a few thousand dollars.
It's not about stopping crime, it's about them returning to face trial.

Well it's hope and pray strategy on their part that the thousand dollars will act as a deterrent.

So realistically its hope and pray on both sides..

Thing is it somehow does work for people that value family and don't want to put their family in a tougher spot.. (usually young adults).

And that reasoning is usually enough for feels better to override facts.

‘Let’s do objectively dumb things so that people feel better’ seems like a bad long term governance strategy.

Yes but it wins elections for conservaterrorists..

Why do red states always vote for shit GOP politicians who do the exactly same objective dumb things?

Why did we put in an electoral college?

Why did we get rid of Citizens United?

Why don't we have Universal Healthcare?

Why do we have a war on LGBT?

vs

Why do we give people who aren't even American citizens free hotels, free meals, free debit cards and free bail?

And it's something that each of us is going to have to come to terms with to not have a 7-2 or 8-1 conservaterrorist scotus! The bottom line is you need more votes than facts on your side!

The migrants will need to be sacrificed.. I've already made my peace with it.

Both @Greenman and @FelixDeCat have been all about the feels without any evidence cited.

When the next gal who is out on no cash bail comes to rob you in a dark alley one night, stop and ask her if there is any evidence to support her robbing you while out on bail. Im sure she will be happy to answer your questions while forcing you to give her your valuables at gunpoint.

So sounds like we should eliminate bail entirely according to you because people on bail commit more crimes.

When are you sending the check to pay for it?

Number 2 is an easy one that doesn't belong on the list. We have the electoral collage because the the U.S. is a republic of 50 states. The states elect the president according to the desire of the people within that state, though even that is subject to how the state decides to distribute those electoral votes.

Number 4 is one I don't really understand as we already have lumpy universal health care that half assed works. Seems like it's time to fix that.

I thought the war on LGBT folks ended in a draw? It doesn't seem like there is anymore territory to fight over.

I'm not sure what you mean by the migrants being sacrificed. The folks that came here by sneaking across the border committed a crime. Most of that was a failure of the Federal Government, and is a failure to this day. Importing a peasant class was never a good idea because sooner or later they get tired of being peasant's. I also wonder if there is any other nation that allows uncontrolled immigration without consequence?

Correct. So why are you enabling them through repeating their lies and expressing a willingness to let them trample on the rights of others?

Good luck convincing 80% of voters their feels are wrong. You have to adapt and offer a better version of what they want - migrants gone instead of arguing against it!

How has the sharp swing to the right worked for the formerly liberal party? Oh, that's right, they lose anyway. Stop pandering to bigots.
