Other countries have more government money allocated to different services. Hence people give less because the know the government already gives a lot.

Where do you think the gov't gets it's money from? Unfortunately a lot of the money gets wasted through corruption, mismanagment, malfeasance, and excessive bureaucracy.

Hahaha. What are you looking for line items on the Federal budget? There is no constitutional authorization for farm subsidies, bank bailouts, food stamps, etc, etc, etc.

The gov't bloat is unbelievable.

A-Z Index of U.S. Government Departments and Agencies
Cut the bullshit and list the items. Then explain the clause of the Constitution that is being violated for item you provide. Should be easy with 3/4 of the spending to choose from.

Here's the website that explains how to report such things.

As a good citizen, you really should take time from posting bullshit here and report what you know so that corrective action can be taken and folks be held accountable. With 3/4 of all spending to report on, you should be the busy Samaritan.

Are you goofy? We're about $70 trillion in debt when you include unfunded liabilities and I have to defend my position gov't is big and bloated and spends too much money?

Actually, it is more like $13.5 trillion and it doubled in the 8 years while Bush was president. Yep, massive deficit spending while fighting two fucking un-winnable wars will do that.

You could get more specific and include tax cuts while waging two wars we could never hope to win...one founded on nothing but lies.

No, I'm asking you to back up this:

I think it's because of Atheists. Not believing in an afterlife means that you have to make the best of things while we are still alive. Thus, Atheists do the most to improve the quality of life of those around them.

this is not true, buddist also give everything away at the end cause the afterlife you could reincarnate as a worm, worm don't need cash either!

What do I have to hold your hand? Read Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution. It spells out quite clearly what the legitimate role of government is.

The Federal Gov't has clearly exceeded the powers granted to it by the Constitution and as a result we are financially bankrupt and have seen an erosion of our freedoms.

If you can't see that, I'm afraid I can't help you.

A likely story. Buddhists believe that life is suffering. Why would they actually work to reduce suffering then? Seeing how they believe that their spiritual leaders are continually reincarnated the only reason that they would disperse any funds upon their demise is that they are giving the money to likely candidate families that they will reincarnate into. A purely selfish reason if there ever was one.

That's just your interpretation. And like usual, wrong.

Translation: You were talking out of your ass and now are attempting to bluster your way out of doing the work necessary to back up your claims.

I read it. It's a pretty general list of things the founding fathers thought we would have to deal with as a nation. Only a complete dumbfuck would be so stupid as to argue that the world today is as simple as it was 200 years ago or that the problems we face today could be solved by such a simple bit of text.

What do you propose? We cut off all spending on social security, welfare, foreign aide, infrastructure, how about military spending? Oh wait, that is listed in section 8...nevermind, I guess we can keep spending billions of dollars a day on killing people in the middle east because the founding fathers said it was okay. Hold on a second though, it only mentions a Navy...and a militia. Nothing about an Air Force or the Marines. Guess we need to mothball those branches of the armed forces because it isn't mentioned in the Constitution.

I propose that the government only excercise the powers authorized to it by the US Constitution. Defending it's citizenry is a legitimate role for government and so I support limited military spending. Again though, gov't has clearly exceeded it's constitutional authority by trying be the world's policeman.

I didn't realize that actually following the constitution was such a radical idea here.
