3.8 seems low for a 1700x.

Not done yet, but 1.375 would not do 3.8 ( edited to 1.3875), I will try more if this is stable, but the temps are about as high as I can stand,

Edit: 3850 locked up in 10 minutes, I guess 3800 is it.

Remember, I push these as hard as can be 24/7 @ 100% load.

You can find the option at Advanced -> CPU Configuration -> SVM Mode. It was disabled by default on my board. I installed 2.0 some time ago, and AMD-V still works with VirtualBox.

Thanks for the tip. I tried 2.0 again, SVM was there and unlike the previous versions this one disabled. Enabled and all is good.

On my 1700 I managed 3.6@1.25v doing some encoding for most of yesterday and today. Set it to 3.7@1.25 and at some point after 8+ hours Handbrake got an error, though this would occasionally happen on the 8350 at stock, too.

I set the voltage one tick higher in Ryzen Master and we'll see how it does.

I'm happy with the temps at 57c @ 3.6/3.7 and loving the temps at 41c @ stock 3.0.

I have the Prime B350 Plus, and I just updated to the 0605 bios, assuming it has the 0515 changes rolled into it.

I cannot get my 2-sticks of Samsung b-die to boot at 3200; the machine resets 5 times than comes back with 'overclocking failed' and I restore to 2933.

Are you able to get 2-sticks running at 3200? If so, what are you doing? I'm using the DOCP and then use the 3200 setting. It fails, so I use the 2933 and that works.
I'm touching nothing else in the BIOS.

I have tried 2x8 GB Sticks @3200 on BIOS versions 0503/0513/0515/0605 and they all worked. They only one that did not work is the old BIOS version 0406.
DRAM voltage has to be 1.35V, and mode will be DOCP then select 3200.
Just keep in mind to recheck the other voltages especially CPU voltage since DOCP tries to raise core voltage also, at least that is what it seems to me.
I think I have Samsung B-dies as well. although I was never aware of these things and I just thought... hmm the Trident Z looks cool I will get them.

what does SOC (voltage) mean?

That's the fabric and as far as we know should not go above 1.2V.
Helps with DRAM OC , feed the fabric to clock it higher but higher V is not always better in finding stability.
To stabilize DRAM at high clocks you might need to play with it but go for small steps and, again, higher voltage is not always better.

Thanks to chew* I managed to get bclk OC sort of working. A little more tinkering and I may use this as my daily, though it looks like AVX workloads bring ugly instability. Not 100% sure why, need to research the phenomenon more at lower mem speeds/CPU speeds. Check this out!

Again this is not AVX stable and I can't confirm what will or won't run with these settings . . . but it boots and works currently. 1.45v vdimm lulz

edit: AVX may be a red herring. Looks like the IMC is unstable, since I can't even get SuperPi to run at these settings (but WPrime will????). May need more SoC voltage.

First I changed the Maximum power state from 90% to 100% to disable frequency scaling (using the standard Windows 10 power plan settings panel).

Then I enabled Core Parking:

Powercfg -setactive scheme_current

Or use a program like Bitsum ParkControl:

I'm missing a few non-essential parts (the bracket for liquid cooler and the case fans I want to use) so I wont have the R5 build fully complete for a week or so, but I should be able to at least test and OC it tonight.

I cannot seem to find any retailer in UK who is taking pre order on Zen 1600. Did anyone else have any luck?

Build essentially complete; overclocking and benching tonight with the stock cooler, as well as seeing if I can get memory to run at full speed. I'm waiting on Arctic to send the bracket for the liquid cooler I have, but going by a Reddit thread I think they finally have them in stock now (you have to email support to request one).

I have to say I really like the look of this motherboard. It's not pricey like the Titanium - it's more than a B350 board at $140, but that's fairly priced for an X370 - but has clean and sharp design without sacrificing too much in key features. Aesthetically, it's less gaudy than the usual dragon-heavy MSI fare (which admittedly I like, too) and a little more elegant... if that's possible for a motherboard design.

I'm just unsure which RAM to go with it for good performance any recommendations. RGB would be nice or options of colours.

What's your budget and primary usage for the system?

Getting 3200 speeds is pretty much a crapshoot unless you have memory using the Samsung B-die ICs in a single rank configuration.... which is pretty much limited to $$$ G.Skill DDR4-3200 memory rated at 14-14-14-14-34 timings, or G.Skill DDR4-3600+ memory rated at the tightest timings for that speed (e.g. 16-16-16-16-36 for 3600). If the timings aren't symmetric (e.g. 16-18-18...) then it likely isn't B-die.

Worth noting is that it has been reported AMD is targeting an AGESA update for May that would improve RAM compatibility and performance at the high end.

Will be using for Gaming and pairing with Vega on release.
Will also do Unreal and Unity as well as app coding. Budget is around £150 on RAM.
Im just unsure what to go with.

This means my F4-3200C15D-16GTZ with 15-15-15-35 timings is not samsung b-die?
This RAM kits seems to be working well for me though at 3200 MT/s.

Thanks only three that support 3200 so maybe will wait to see if any RGB options become available. Or maybe if I check the retailers website they might have thier own QVL

The AGESA 1004 that is starting to be available does improve support at 3200MHz.

It seems like they have two separate updates in the pipeline, one enabling better support at 3200, and another one in May for even faster memory:

- Ram is improving all the time. We have a huge BIOS update enabling 3200 MHz DDR4 that should hit most boards April 11th, and another one scheduled for May.

Those two things go hand in hand, but you are correct in that the May update only explicitly targeted higher multipliers. Better compatibility would be implied.

Thanks for the additional details - My settings match yours almost identically - my memory timings are slightly different than yours, but that's it.
I poked at a few more settings and it will not boot at 3200 - it just powers down.
I'll stick at 2933 for now and see if things change in May.

I actually hadn't heard about the April update until this AMA. It looks like it's going to coincide with the official release of the R5 on April 11, and AMD seem fairly confident that it will support 3200 MHz memory across the board.
