Those 98 ns were achieved with DDR4-3200 also?

Sorry I was not very clear, BIOS 0403 is not working DDR4-3200. It works on version 0503 onwards. 0403 is supporting only DDR4-2133
Version 0403 98 ns Latency at 2133 (higher speed not supported)
Version 0605 73 ns Latency at 3200 (Max speed of my RAM kit)

I had a similar experience with the f5g gigabyte beta bios. My 3200 RAM posted, but wasn't stable under load. The bios fixed stability and took my latency down from 97 to 72-ish. Benches great. Made no difference to my software performance, but it makes me feel better.

What I really need is 8k 4:2:2 (ideally) AVC/HEVC 60+fps decode hardware. KabyLake still has the advantage with its QSV.... The 10x0 NV hardware will at least do 150+fps 4k 4:2:0 decode, though I do need to convince the software maker to use it. I'm hoping that Vega brings something similar to the table for AMD's sake. The lack of decode hardware in HEDT computers has been a real thorn in the side of the video production world, and the slow uptake in the software world for using what is there is beyond frustrating.... I'm really hopeful that a little competition will force more cooperation between the parties involved.

Mark what ram are you using? I need a new set of ram either 8gb x 2 or 16gb x 2 since none of the motherboards are excepting 4 sticks. I can't take this using 4gb x2 stuff any longer.I need more ram asap!! :)

Thanks guys!! isn't that a tad much on the price side. I remember it being like $119 for 8gb x 2 about a month or so ago. Why so much now?

It is a little pricy, but comparable to the 3600mhz Corsair LPX i have on backorder.

DDR4 prices have been steadily climbing for a while now. to bad ryzen didnt release last summer when it was cheap lol.

Well turns out my ram is single rank after all. Just visited the Gigabyte support page and downloaded there new memory support list. My memory is now listed on that page as supported.Powered down my system and popped the other 2 sticks in for a total of 4 sticks.Powered back up at rated speeds and booted back into windows no problem. I am stress testing now to see if its going to be stable but so far looks good.Just thought I'd give the heads up since there were a couple other people that were using these same ram kits here on the forums.Just check you motherboard manufacturers memory support page first though to make sure your motherboard will support them as well.

I bought it over a month ago, and it was $170, only $10 more now. I had been watching it for a few weeks before that, and no change.

Edit: good find on that Ripjaws, its $20 less, and the specs do look the same. Mine is in packaging, so I can't cancel anymore, besides, I like to go with what I KNOW works.

Are those working ok with your taichi board? I may still buy a set for my other rig. do they have a 16gb x 2 version or is that 3000Mhz one the only set in that amount?

Aren't they dual rank?

3200 CL14 should all be single rank Samsung B-die ICs. I purchased the quad-channel kit 4x8GB for $299 - 10% coupon = $265, so I should be able to verify once its in my hands Saturday.

My CL15 version of those at 16GB per stick are dual rank B-dies. So if it's just a lower latency version with the same chips. Single side is possible for 8GB.

16GB sticks will all be dual rank, as it is currently not possible to make 16GB single rank sticks.

My point is that if same memory chips are used between the different capacities and latencies, that the 8GB chip should be single sided being with 8 being half of 16 and half of dual rank is single rank.

As opposed to using a different chip supply where the process for making those chips is not as small and therefore caps out at 8GB for a dual rank configuration.

Oh, that's what you meant. Yes, you're correct.

*IF* your memory is 3200 CL14, then it must be using 8Gb Samsung B-die ICs as that is presently the only IC that is capable of that speed/latency combination. And it's only made in 1 size, so a 8GB stick of that is single rank (i.e. 8 chips, one side of DIMM), 16GB stick is dual rank (i.e. 16 chips, both side of DIMM). Actual part # on the ICs if you remove the heatspreader should read K4A8G085WB.

This is true as of April 2017, at least. Probably won't be true by 2018.

lots of users reporting that their carbon boards are working well with other memory, so my hand may be forced in returning the current kit

good news is my dominator sticks in the skylake will likely work fine... even on the MSI QVL

I really hate windows update. So my new Taichi was running perfectly under 100% load for 24 hours. Then windows update (apparently) ran. So the box looked like it had locked up or something (no video) but fans were running. So I recycle power, and when it boots I get the "windows update is running, don't turn off your computer".

So now I listened to my own advice and shut down, then disabled the service.
