I can play Diablo 3 on my llano laptop. How is that unsuitable for gaming?

Here's a reality check: not everyone has the same standards. Trinity can play every game you can buy today. Every single one.

No one is claiming its a replacement for a dGPU setup. It does, however, fill an important niche: the $300 gaming PC.

Let's imagine a video card that played "some games at 720p" and "a few at 1080p". That product would never make it to market, and if it did, would be a huge flop.

Take such poor a poor performing product, and glue it on to a low end cpu die and suddenly it's like it's the messiah to some people.

Does this mean you consider all the consoles out to be unsuitable for gaming? They all deliver worse performance than trinity. If they're good enough for millions of people, why shouldn't trinity be good enough for some people who want to game on their pc?

HD 6770 sells very well. Most people are still using 8800GT's are very happy with the performance they get in some newer titles. The poor performing product you referring to happens to be the fastest igp solution available. How would you label the HD4000????

Why is it a different world? It's a huge market, and everyone needs a pc. I'm sure plenty would rather just have a pc instead of both a pc and a console, especially when the trinity pc doesn't have to cost much more than the console.

Yes, old GPUs that no one buying new today should accept the performance of. People may be using them still, but to tell someone they should seek out that level of performance on a new purchase today is really silly. People are still using netburst as well. I guess we should accept that poor level of performance with new product since there are people still using it.

A laptop is a different situation than a desktop. There is a justification in giving up image quality and the ability to play all games because a gaming laptop is 500 dollars or more more expensive than a llano laptop. Plus you cannot easily upgrade it.

On a desktop, for heaven's sake, just add a 50-100 dollar discrete card, even to an amd Cpu if you hate intel that much or are determined to recommend AMD no matter what.

The only reason I can see to insist on using an igp in a desktop is to focus on the one area where AMD is superior.

Both HD6770 and 8800GT are alot faster than Trinity iGPU. So not sure why you mention that.

Consoles got optimized code throughout the process. There is one one type of hardware to code for. So yes, its alot different.

The level of performance you get with it is the maximum you can get out of CPU/IGP working under the same roof. No even Intel with all the R&D money spent yearly was able to beat and that alone m friend is a huge achievement so why ignore it???

And? Trinity still delivers better performance than the ones out now, the ones that people are still buying and using. I just don't see how people can say that it's unsuitable for gaming when it's better than what the majority plays on. Of course there's plenty of far better solutions if you desire even better graphics and framerates (and I do). But they are more expensive and cumbersome.

Yes , as the P4M 1.6 laptop i m using to send this post...

Other laptops that i had at the same time are good for the trashbin
since they have poor GFX unlike this one...

Ultimately , the GFX is the main factor for laptops lifecycle ,
well before the CPU.

Go back and read again, I'm not responsible for your lack of attention but I'll help you anyway. He implied that a gpu that can only push some games at 720p and a few at 1080p would fail in today's market. I gave him the 6770 which happens to play few games at 1080 but is a success. Get it now???

The 6770 is far faster than the A10, and the 8800GT (what, 4 or 5 year old tech) is still faster in most cases. And there is a difference in keeping what you have and making do with it and buying something new. Furthermore, no one in this forum is advocating gaming on HD4000 on the desktop. Not one post recommended that. You just had to bring that in to get a dig at intel didnt you?

In fact, I still game on an 8800GT. But would I go out an buy one now?? Of course not, it would be crazy. To use a theoretical argument, if I had a "gaming" computer with the capabilities of the A10 that I had bought a couple of years ago, I could make a case for keeping it and accepting the compromises. Would I buy one now and attempt to game on it without adding a discrete GPU---no way.

No one said that. And there are a number of one or two year old titles that any igp is inadequate to run, eg Metro 2033, and that can be had cheaply on sale.
