Actually, the ZIP-code contingency is only for Same Day delivery, not One/Two Day shipping. The Amazon customer support person was in error. I provided them with their own web page URL.

I then drafted a ;ast reply, but before sending it I discovered that Jeff Bezos has published an email address for complaints, which I used.

Seriously, I live the the second most populated county in the state of GA and their support people are telling me my ZIP code isn't good enough. I even tried multiple ZIP codes from my county, which all fails for Same Day service, but this is moot for 1/2-Day service.

I guess my 30 orders I placed with them last year for ~$3K wasn't good enough. LOL

It happened to me again! Order placed 17th with guaranteed 2 day delivery on 19th for 2 out of 3 items. The other item on 2/24. So three separate deliveries from the order. 1 of the 3 arrived on Friday, delivered via USPS. The item that was to be delivered on 2/24 arrived on 2/21, again via USPS. The one package that didnt arrive on time was from UPS! At first they claimed I wasnt home on 2/19, when I was. No attempt to deliver on Sat or Sunday. According to the tracking info today they dropped it off at some random Amazon drop off place which closes before I get off work. They claimed I wasnt home, and I wasnt, but if they tried using the call box at the door I could have buzzed them in. UPS knows to use the call box...they deliver to my building 2-3 times a day. So I dont know how they knew I wasnt home. Plus the order didnt require a signature or anything so I doubt someone let them in, they went to my door, and instead of leaving it there they took it back with them.

I chatted with Amazon about it. I just wanted to verify it wasnt a tracking info issue and complain a little, but before I could even complain they had a new tracking number and sent it out again overnight. I even said if they could verify it was delivered I can go get it, but they said dont worry about it its already in motion. So I dont think the issue is Amazon. In general whenever I dont receive something on time from Amazon UPS is the shipper. They suck ass.

P.S. USPS delivered the package next day before 10AM.

I experimented with other items than the one I complained about. All were Ships from and Sold By Amazon.com without my logging into my Amazon account (no saved cookies; guessed my location fairly well). One Day was offered before login (Same Day offered at my workplace), but they couldn't/wouldn't meet the Two Day.

I tried with a variety of item types. I'm guessing if the One Day shipping costs Amazon too much they will not offer it and claim FedEx and UPS can't get it to me faster than three business days. What a load of BS.

And then tonight, just an hour ago I tried another order setup on the original item and they say I can get in <48 hours. Order Wed can't get it before Monday. Order it Monday and I can get it Wed at the latest? Yet, still not being offered One Day on anything.

Me thinks they are cutting corners to the point long-time, regularly ordering customer go away. I would have been happy to pay $2.99 for One Day shipping, but I fear Amazon knows it would have cost them much more to get FedEx/UPS to deliver it on time.

No concept of setting customers expectations correctly through something called honesty.

BTW, jeff@amazon.com will get someone else to respond other than the common worker drone. You may not get any better results, but if more folks complained who knows what kind of sunshine will come out.

#2)
Waterville, ME, United States 11/10/2016 8:27 A.M. Out For Delivery
11/10/2016 5:32 A.M. Arrival Scan
Chelmsford, MA, United States 11/10/2016 1:15 A.M. Departure Scan
Carteret, NJ, United States 11/08/2016 4:20 P.M. Location Scan
United States 11/08/2016 4:33 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS

A signature was required. I was home all day. I am in a rural part of Maine. Signature forms are typically stuck on the window glass of my door if no one is present. I suspect there was no delivery attempt as there was no form left, no tracks in the driveway, no honking of the horn as the truck neared, no knock on the door, no footprints.

It will be interesting to see if the two differing "Out for delivery" timestamps result in separate trucks. If there are not two trucks, it would mean that the tracking information is somewhat fictional.

Amazon boasts super-efficient computerized delivery systems, as does UPS. I haven't a clue as to the level of connectedness between the two systems, as whether Amazon or UPS have joint efficiencies or separated systems. It could be that UPS software is aware and holds the delivery for one trip, or that Amazon directs it.

It could be that my paranoia is generated by micro-strokes, or alien abductions. Regardless, I am waiting another day to sign for the delivery.

Do you have something set up that requires signature from amazon deliveries? I've never had to sign for anything, and I've had $500+ items sitting on my porch.

nt know what the policy is. I suppose if they don't want $$$ stuff left outside they require a signature. If I were in an apartment building they would leave it by the mailboxes. (My daughter had to sign for her deliveries after her building had stuff stolen when left by the boxes). But, I have never made any choice whether to sign for deliveries or not.

I think Amazon must have been going through some kind of transition with their shipping. Since this thread I dont think anything has been delayed that wasnt attempted to be delivered on a Sat or Sun. Even noticed it seemed Amazon has its own shipping company delivering on same day service.

I've ordered 216 times this year from Amazon. Using prime for prime-qualified items, I think maybe once 2-day shipping took an extra day but I can't even be sure of that. I did have it happen a couple times where a 2 day order came in 1 day. I live in a very populated area of NNJ and have everything shipped to my workplace.

Prime shipping isnt any better up here in canada, i think this is my last year paying for it, they seem to be hitting at most 50% ontime deliveries for me. Even the $3.99 to get next day shipping they usually screw up.

Non-Prime members: If you order from "fulfilled by Amazon" sellers, rather than Amazon itself, you get quicker turnaround/shipment.

I typically don't go that route because of the $49 minimum order requirement for free shipping.

Well, I can no longer say I've never had anything delayed with "2 day shipping", but given the price-to-product ratio I'll survive... I ordered a 16 oz bottle of vanilla extract for $10.43 Friday evening (which is ridiculously low, even/especially for mainstream brand, single-strength vanilla), and for no apparent reason, it hasn't actually shipped yet and isn't scheduled to arrive until Wednesday the 16th. Otoh, I've gotten things from Amazon ahead of schedule, too, so the Fat Lady hasn't quite sung yet, either...
