Hurr... durr... maybe it has something to do with planes and transportation being practically shut down on the east coast causing cascading effects elsewhere? Almost every time something like a holiday or a storm or whatever delayed shipments we get these threads. Crybabies.

It's kind of silly not to take the free month if they're offering though.

I've noticed that they sometimes miss the 2 days when it's something that is low on stock. My guess is that in those situations the item is in a specific warehouse that is slow to get to where I am located.

Generally speaking it's been a great service. Many times things actually arrive faster than 2 days, but perhaps it's attributable to me being in a large market - NYC area.

I called Amazon and it's pretty obvious the customer service agents are well versed in the art of bull shit. The agent I talked to, Adele S., went on about it being two business days so today, Friday would be the first business day and Monday would be the second business day and then delivery on the next day, Tuesday.

I didnt think there were business vs weekend days for Amazon anymore. In my area they deliver on sat and sun like they are business days. In fact, ordered an Instant Pot this morning and it will be here Sunday with just the regular 2 day shipping.

Sunday delivery isn't available everywhere.

I ordered 2 things on Wednesday at 530pm and 1 is already here Friday afternoon, less than 2 days from when I hit Send Order. The other item is coming Monday (yup screwed by the weekend). No big deal, still love the way it works. If I get anything on the weekend I consider it a bonus - and I have gotten things on Sundays.

I have no issues with Prime except when they transfer to USPS and then it adds multiple days as they NEVER hit the delivery date.

Also had to return a gift for my wife's birthday because some special shampoo wasn't packed correctly (1 bottle in a bag, the other not) and the one not in a plastic bag leaked all over her piano books. Big waste of time and effort to return/replace.

I also chat with customer service every time they are late.
They have always given me free 1 mo extension for each time they are late.
I have done this at least 3 times now.

Heh. My order today was for 5 items. 4 were available for same day for free, and the other on Sunday. And I ordered some obscure things like ramen broth. But I in general I dont buy anything unless it qualifies for Prime.

Yeah all of my late packages have been from USPS. They were just fine when they were doing only Sunday deliveries but now they do all of the small stuff instead of OnTrac and it sucks.

90% of my prime orders come in 2 day.
5% come in 1 day
5% come in 3 days

And it's always free.

Have you received an email about possible delays due to weather? A lot of DCs have been shut down due to Jonas.

Perhaps it's where I live, but at least a third and probably closer to half of my orders are delivered via USPS. And, they were ordered as Prime.

Ignoring this particular order my impression is about a third of the orders I've received in the last year have taken longer than two days with some taking more like five days -- five business days.

The only thing I can think is that I'm a frequent customer and have 29 orders in just the last 6 months and perhaps Amazon thinks I've gotten my monies worth and have unofficially knocked me off the two day guarantee.

But, the line of crap the rep gave me explaining how three days is actually two days is at one level laughable but at another just annoying.

I've never had a prime shipment miss the date given at checkout. But I have had the guaranteed dates go out way more (like 4-5) than 2 days. The last time I started a chat window to ask why stuff I was ordering on Thursday was going to take until the next Wednesday, and they upgraded it overnight shipping for free.

It seems to happen more lately, I also wish I understood what stuff will deliver on the weekends and what won't.

As far as sellers go. The only third-party sellers that ship with prime are the "Fulfilled by Amazon" sellers. You can read all about it on amazon's page. But those sellers pay Amazon a fee to store the item, handle the item and ship the item, as well as the typical commission. I am sure that is a pretty standard arrangement with any fulfillment center. Sellers that are not fulfilled by Amazon can charge whatever they want for shipping and that goes directly to them, but it isn't shipped via prime.

I will say I've never had a problem with Amazon customer service. I think they typically go way beyond what is expected, which is why I pretty much never give my money to Newegg anymore.

When the UPS -> USPS handoff first started, it was horrible, took days. I haven't had a problem with in since then, and I get a lot of prime orders through USPS.

This happens often, Prime items not being promised 2-day shipping, while also at the same time showing up in their search results listing only "Prime" items, when user selected. Is this the new subprime scam?

I have only been a prime member for a few months and don't have a ton of experience but of lets say 6 orders, at least 2 have missed 2 day status. (and they were not during Christmas either).

The true scam is, I used to get everything in 2 days anyway without being a prime member. Now they just simply hold back shipment for a few days so things will take a week to get here. Now there is the real scam..

^ I wasn't a Prime member until late 2015 either, but in no way as a non-Prime member did I get items in 2 days all the time. They wouldn't even ship out before 3 days sometimes. I'd say maybe less than 10% arrived in 2 days - I planned no less than a week in advance for birthday gifts. Now with Prime, I'd say it's 90% in 2 days. I don't know why people are calling it a scam when there's so many factors that play into it.

I have no issues with Prime except when they transfer to USPS and then it adds multiple days as they NEVER hit the delivery date.

I've had a great experience with my USPS as the final leg. Scan says they received it at 8am and it's sorted and out for delivery the same day and I get it by 2pm. Can't say the same for UPS - they like to get here at 6pm sometimes.

In 2015 I had 191 orders with Amazon and 95% were prime. There was one delivery that was late, just one. I would hardly call that a scam. Is it possible you are ordering from Amazon but not a prime item, or a prime item that specifies that it will take a few extra days because of its location to you?

Yeah, non-prime shipping has become a huge scam. Before I got Prime they had started holding packages at least a week 1/3 of the time. Finally, when I built my last desktop, they held some stuff over two weeks, it was crazy. When I finally called and complained they gave me a bunch of BS, but then upgraded it to overnight shipping.

I was about to swear off Amazon until I found out you could share prime with 5 people.

25 orders in the last 6 months here. All Prime, all on time. Probably 1/3rd of them were free same day.

on the order page if you have prime, it says "order within X hours to receive your item by Y date". do you guys not see this or something? it tells you exactly when it's guaranteed to be delivered, including processing, weekend times, etc.

i order about 1-3 packages from amazon a week and have done so the past 3 years with prime, and i've probably had 2 or 3 packages arrive late, neither of which were in the holiday season. both times i simply talked to chat and they solved the problem by either giving me credit to amazon or giving me the item i ordered for free.

hell i have placed many orders by noon and received the items that same day with the free same day shipping.

maybe i have really good luck.

when that happens, the default seller of the item may not offer prime, but one of the other sellers will offer prime.

the problem with this though is if you are shopping for something like shoes, and have the results filtered to your size, and they don't have that shoe in your size from a prime seller, but they do have it in another size from a prime seller. it still shows up in the "prime" filter which sucks. i just experienced this last week when ordering snow boots for my wife.

but their search engine is known by everyone that is pretty much is terrible.
