I'm not sure how anyone can dislike the Beatles. Do you just mean the whole idea of the Beatles and where they sit in cultural discussion or are you saying you hate every Beatles song ever created?

I wonder how many people dislike the Beatles because they are tired of hearing about how much the Fab Four contributed to modern music?
See, that was the first thing that crossed my mind of what people would think I was referring my dislike of them to. However, I can unequivocally say that they music just plain sucks. It's not entertaining and doesn't have a sound or melody that my ear can appreciate.

As individuals, I find each of the beatles fascinating and talented people. But their music, not so much.

I'm curious, what kind of music do you like?

TBH, I don't like a lot of 70's music... I guess I just can't relate. I'm born in 81. I now hand over any credibility I have as far as taste in music is concerned. :p

Most everything aside from gangsta-crap and country. Sorry, the gangsta-crap isn't music (it's talking to a beatbox) and country music is just about all the same (with the exception of Kenny Chesney, cause his songs are cool).

Therefore, everything from classical, opera, chamber, orchestral, gospel choir, etc., to contemporary, pop, rock, metal, classic rock, alternative, new age, instrumental, jazz, blues, etc. I'll listen to just about anything.

I was born in the late 60s so I was a child of the 70s and a teen in the 80s. I liked 60/70s music when I was a teen along with some of the more alternative 80s music. U2, The Police, The Cure, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, etc. I never liked metal or hair bands though.

I kind of stopped listening to 60's music altogether after high school but was driving our company van one day and my boss (the CEO) had left a Beatles tape in the player so I found myself listening to it and developed an appreciation for their music all over again.

Their music is timeless IMO. People will never stop listening to it or appreciating it.

I'm not a fan of their earlier stuff, but their later stuff was something I could appreciate.

I wasn't specifically aiming this comment at anyone... the thought occurred to me because during any lengthy discussion of music, when the Beatles or Zep or a few other bands are mentioned, there is inevitably a comment regarding "cultural significance." As much as I like the Beatles and Zep, this gets annoying.

I have a neighbor who hates teh Beatles because of John Lennon's quip that they were "more popular than Jesus".

Which sort of begs the question, what year are the posters who hate the Beatles born in? You can say a lot of people like the music of their generations... so you could be 40 and hate what passes for music today but just think in another 40 years, people will talk about the music of the 90's and 00's and how music later on is shit compared to Lady Gaga.

Nah, I've never been a fan of their music. They have a couple of songs that are ok, but I would never sit down and actually listen to them.

I like the same kind of music (with the exception of gospel choir and metal) although I do like some rap music, not the hip hop stuff but some of the hard core gangsta rap is pretty good.

I really appreciate classical music though. My favorite instruments are probably the oboe, cello, violin and piano. I like baroque music and classical but the romantic era and some of the modern classical music is amazing.

With your tastes I find it difficult to believe that you cannot find any Beatles music you can appreciate.

I don't really care for their music. I can't deny what they did for music, what they meant. But if I never heard one of their songs again I would not miss their music one bit.

Who needs The Beatles when we have people that glorify the thug life, nailin ho's, poppin caps in people while doin drive-by's?... and to think they can do all this while talking real fast, rhyming, and throwing up gang signs; how can The Beatles compare?

Their early albums were OK for pop music of that era, but the Beatles really started getting interesting on Rubber Soul. With Revolver and Sgt. Pepper they were breaking new ground musically, leaving their peers in the dust.

doubtful.

but it's foolish to be incapable of finding a good bit of awesome in the Beatles' library.

Honestly, I can't say I'm a fan of their music.

I cannot stand them. They sound like fucking elevator music. I had a friend play a record of their's once, and I didn't know who it was. I thought it actually was elevator music.
