Japanese cars are sh1t compared to German cars. They are small, underpowered boxes compared to BMWs, MB and of course porshes. J.C are definitly more reliable than American built cars, but hey at least you can sit in an American car comfortably.
Compare apples to apples. Most Japanese cars are in the sub 25,000 category. If you want to compare sub 25,000 german cars, start comparing Jettas to Accords or Camrys.
Infiniti G35x/FX45
Toyota Avalon (around 30k)
Lexus RX 330/ES300
Acura TL/RL
off the top of my head are way above 30k.

is it just me, or did anyone else think his "japcrap" comment was in extremely poor taste?
It's not cool. Using the word Jap shouldn't be allowed.
It's a word, deal with it. Or ban white boy, cracker, beloved patriot etc.
im japanese and have no problem with jap.
Funny. I am and I do.
Thats cool, jap may not be the preferred term but it is certainly better than beloved patriot, beloved patriot, chingchong and pancake face.
jesus christ you people need to calm down, go cry to your mothers, japcrap = japanese crap, and has no racial inclaniation whatsoever
Yeah!
Seriously. Why haven't Japanese car companies haven't come out with extra wide EE sized seats for us lard ass Americans?!?

I read the first page and stopped. You're all missing the point. Only sh|tty drivers get auto transmission. People who like to do more than just point their car buy manual. So anyone who bought auto deserves it (even though what "it" is, is not even an issue).

not everyone sees the point of doing extra work while driving. not everyone is under the delusions that they are a race car driver.

There have been plenty of lemon japanese vehicles- Mazda Rx7's for one. It's also true that Japanese cars generally have less innovation. My dad works for Delphi- he summed it up very well as he used to work with GM but now deals with Toyota: GM wants the latest coolest gadgets and Toyota wants a proven technology and generally uses less innovative parts which leads to less issues.

I just purchased an '05 Infinit G35 coupe a few weeks ago. I shopped around other cars around that range. That included BMWs and MB. Unless you are willing pay above $50,000, European cars are overpriced with measley standard features. Interiors are lousy, and the performance was not as impressive. So I don't know why you are stating that Japanese cars are crappy compared to German cars.
BMW 300 series, even 500 series compared to my G35? Underpowered box my arse. Notice that I am comparing with similar price range.

Not only does it make driving much more fun (hence not work) it puts you in more control of your car, which I believe results in being a better driver
