I personally don't think UrbanWares is a good name. Sounds kinda Wal-Martish.

Agreed that the Italian names seem a bit weird. Traffic and Rush Hour aren't bad, but they seem very focused on the urban theme, which may not be what you want in the future if it goes more mainstream. Nef is an interesting idea. You'll need to run it by a bunch of people that have no clue of what the word means, since none of us here can make an accurate judgement on it.

You could do the reverse of Levi's by having a number as the company name, and then an individual word for each style. Something like "785 Jeans".

How about "Unabridged"? "Foos"?

I trademark/copyright/whatever all these ideas. :p

I wouldn't go with anything that's so Italian it's awkward for the average American to pronounce (Atrativo, Estrella).

If you're serious about this, Natural sounds like a good name.

7 Seas would be good IMO.
World-wide suggestion in the brand name. Rugged-ish name (seas/sailors etc).

I think Traffic sounds like a good name.

Nef would be sort of fun, but not too practical I would think.

I would definitely stay away from any name that could in any sort sound like some other company - such as Gasoline (cheap Diesel?), 7 Seas (7), and so forth.

I think they used to sell cod-liver oil by that name somewhere...

Do you really want to know? Samples of all the hot new jeans from the malls are purchased and taken into a manufacturing plant in downtown Los Angeles. Some people like to call these "sweat shops." I've been to many and they are quite well ventilated and some are even air conditioned. But I digress.

A group of middle aged Korean men sit around a table and decide the cut, wash, design, labels, etc. Order is sent to Chinese or American manufacturing plant. A new jean company is born.

Strangely enough I recently met a guy who's heavy into the denim business. I didn't even know it was that big of one, but he claims it's the fastest growing part of the fashion business right now.

heh 501's are my favorite to get. i always see them $50+ so i get rustler or farm and fleet brand. wich are great for working around the farm

waggy, Langston's has a full range of sizes. ATM, I take 40x36 shrink to fit. After
four warm washings they are still a tad loose. I need to get back to a 36" waist ;)

For winter rain wear, if you have the funds, check out Barbour waxed cotton jackets/hats.
I have a jacket & bibs for riding motorcycles in the rain :D Very good gear from Britain.

JS80, be edgy, Stiletto for thin ladies jeans and WAD for men's jeans. Even the 501s
I just bought are thin denim compared to what was offered in the mid-'70s. Button fly boot
cut would be killer.

Wow. The idea sounds cool. I tend to like clothes from Banana and such, but when it comes to jeans, I usually get $15 Old Navy stuff. I think your target audience is young women who may be willing a shell out $200 for a pair of jeans that looks nice, but would prefer paying a lot less for it. Meaning, neither ghetto (I really hope not) or overly posh. With that in mind, this is what comes to mind when I first hear the words:

Traffic - excellent. and being at the top, I assume this is currently your top choice.
Rush Hour - decent, but I like traffic more. single words labels have a simplicity to them.
Borderline - not so sure about this one. it's ok too, but makes me think of immigration issues.
Stacked - stacked ?
Launch - ok, though the heavy-accents might make this sound like "lunch"
Plastered - plastered ?
Dare/Daring - Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E)?
Foil - thwart: hinder or prevent (the efforts, plans, or desires) of;
Stain - this is decent as well, though I think labels with more than one syllable are catchier.
Sinister - overly dramatic.
SiniSTAR - huh?
Studded - I think this is pretty good as well.

--- I'm not a huge fan of the Italian words because they are overused. Aren't there already tons of labels cheap (in price and quality) labels that use the word "Bella"?

Mina Bella
Mi Bella
Sucio
Lista
Vero
Verano
Carrino
Natural or Naturale
Atrativo
Estrella
Tela Bella
Belleza
Dona Bella

With that in mind, I think you'll have competition from companies like Express or H&M, who offer fairly low-priced stylish clothing - including jeans.

Thanks for the value added feedback.
Stacked - YES. GOD YES.
Plastered - hehe...

Our customers = retailers. Retailers have no access to Express jeans. You'd be surprised at the numbers of small "mom and pop" fashion retailers out there. They ALL complain at the lack of decently priced "nice"/premium jeans.

Recently a few places got busted for selling "fake" 7 jeans/other premium jeans (who only sell to "authorized" retailers. And by "fake" I mean overstock 7 jeans from the SAME manufacturer who dump it onto the market (LA fashion district).

So our thinking was why not make it just as pretty as 7 jeans and not incur corporate costs and sell to the retailers who want them?

Lol.. I have no problem with anyone using this as I am much too lazy to pursue a patent.

Urbanware would just be the brand name, then you could use any assortment of odd names for the different series of pants. Maybe even as a gimmick, use part of the brand name in each series name, perhaps something like "UrbanLeather", "UrbanCore", "UrbanClassic". Combining the brand name and series name into one word would probably make it easier to trademark also, as you cant trademark a standard word. (I think)

It does sound a little WalMart-ish to me now that you suggest it, but look at how many people get their clothes from Walmart? If you can sell quality budget clothes, people are going to be buying it at Walmart so they could relate to the name lol...

Cool jean brand names IMO:
Vantage
Broken
Vertigo
Fly
Prestige

More catered for females:
Gossip
Powder

By the way... I think the idea is sweet and good luck towards ya! Hopefully AT will be able to get some discounts :)

I don't think you have answered this anywhere, so I'll ask:

What target audience are you trying to go after? And isn't there already someone in that space?

I don't understand... you want to make jeans like $200 jeans, but not sell them for $200... well the reason they are popular is because they are $200. You can buy plenty of jeans for $30 a pair. They aren't popular with the elite crowd because they are $35 a pair. If you start mass producing "expensive looking" jeans for $35, I'm not sure you'll accomplish much. The people who want cheap jeans will keep buying the cheap jeans that are out there, and the people who want expensive jeans want them as a status symbol so they'll keep buying the expensive ones.

Not saying it's impossible to succeed, but not sure that the market is really there...

Edit: That came out a lot more critical than I really intended - but my question is sound - are you sure that it's a legit market for what you want to sell?

He wants to strike in the middle if I read the OP correctly. Separate himself from $30-70 jeans, but steal sales from more "prestigious" labels undercutting them by $75-100. Which leads me to another cool name: Prestige

Much like the 227 people who bought the $99 iPod shuffle, vs the 3.8 million who bought a $350 ipod... :)

The shuffle sucked. No jeans have LCDs, so your point is moot :p
