After two sessions of Carboplatin and Alimta CT scan showed I had shrinkage in some tumors with progression in others. A closer look at my pathology showed a mixed tumor load. I started on the immunotherapy drug Opdivo on Monday. So far fatigue and tumor pain are my only side effects. Praying my T cells get boosted enough to kill some cancer.

I must say this stuff can have serious side effects but as sick as I was my last round of chemo I am tolerating this treatment well so far.

Glad to hear treatment is happening.

Our team of cancer survivors will be in Boston next month for the Boston Dragon Boat festival. June 14th and 15th near the MIT campus. It'd be great to have you stop by our tent and cheer us and the Boston team on.

we've survived all kinds of cancers and can answer any questions you may have.

Sending prayers your way! Glad to hear your treatments are working. Hang in there! My wife recently beat B Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It can be done!

Hopefully treatment can get everything going in the right direction for you and doesn't hit you too hard. Stay strong and if possible find some positive distractions that might help keep your mind off of the situation and maybe even help with the pain.

Prayers for you and your family. I missed this thread somehow and am sorry I did not reply sooner. Best of luck on your journey.

Hey Slat, no worries, I am still alive and enjoying the respite from traditional chemotherapy, just praying this stuff works & buys me some good time 🙂

Good luck with your treatments & remember to stay hydrated!

Had a visit at MGH yesterday, my lab work all came back normal, my white and red counts have returned to normal, my weight is stable and one of the tumors in my neck is smaller. They called me a " rock star" 2nd Immunotherapy infusion today. Let's hope more of those cancer cells get taken down by my killer T cells!

Glad to hear you're getting better!

It is my Oncologist's hope that Immunotherapy will extend my life and that when this stops working another treatment will come along. Sort of like treating cancer as a chronic illness.

There are some amazing cancer treatments in progress today. Glad to hear your tumors are responding to Immunotherapy - that's got to be the healthiest therapy for you - but your oncologist will have many potential treatments.
