no response from cwjerome for a while, perhaps he's to busy jerking it to his great leader's speach, like any true patriot.

I only started extrapolating my personal conclusions once certain people posted the same. At that point it was fair game. My comments about liberals are derived from the posts of liberals.

Correct, which is excatly what the OP is doing.

Shoot I forgot... actually thought this was a discussion board about issues, often things that piss people off or annoy.

Ok everyone, close down... no more complaining or "dwelling on negative things!"

I expect there to be about 99% fewer posts at P&N now

Hmm, you did say yourself perhaps you should have posted it in OT. I was merely legitimizing the ambiguity in your reasoning. :p
99% fewer posts in here would be a blessing, actually. Much of it is chaff anyway, as I'm sure you're aware, since you seem to be a smart guy.

OK, it was rant-ish and I admit it probably should have been OT. But I think an underlying reason for putting it in P&N was because I suspected the Libs would be sympathetic to the complainer since in some key ways they share the same character. The evidence of them being moral allies was all but proven by subsequent Leftist posts. This is just one of those tiny day-today manifestations of the psychological difference between Libs and Cons.

Well I think there's certain things you can do. One type of person will take offense and be upset that some AF jets flew by and made a loud noise noise for about 5 or 10 seconds of their precious life. They will automatically come to conclusions about "Tom Cruise wannabes" and write a sarcastic letter to the local newspaper.

Another type of person might look up and be amazed at our tax dollars at work, see the beauty of the those jets in formation, and look at this as a neat experience. They might even feel a little pride.
personally i would like my tax money being sepnt on something more important than flying around looking neato, if that had been the case here.

Personally, I think the complainer needs to learn some humility, and pull his arrogant head out of his ass. I doubt this guy has ever felt the feelings of shedding a tear at a national anthem, getting a lump in the throat during a patriotic speech, or being profoundly moved and humbled by a veteran's story. I hope his little hissy fit was a lesson: People can do without someone's cynical assumptions, especially in a situation like this.
i don't see how any of that is good. I'm glad that your foolish enough to have so pride and loyalty to an abstract concept though, makes me feel better about my sanity.

I hope that I never become so cold, callous and insensitive that I can't be moved by displays of patriotism and heroism.

Blah blah, you're a huge Lib, you don't even need to post... we already know your feelings about the issue. I'm willing to bet the complainer was an anti-military also

This, in a round-about nutshell sort of way, is why the Libs are losing out. Most people still love America, and admire our military.

59 million people is not "losing out".

Not to make an already political thread even more so, and call me a liberal, or maybe just someone who values sleep whilst I'm in college.....but anywho back in october while Bushie was on the campaign trail he stopped in MI to give a speech at the Pontiac Silverdome, and then he was supposed to stay at a local hotel and then take off from my university in the morning....oh that was a mess....i was awoken by a blackhawk flying at about 100 feet directly OVER my dorm at about 6:30am....land 200 yards away and await Mr Bushie, meanwhile I had a test at 8am and since they have to have security so tight campus was in a practical gridlock as they closed down the main road on campus....however because of him my test was delayed a week since the prof and most of the class(who were commuters) couldnt get to class cuz they had everything shut down :D bad side was....well being awoken that early and in such a...startling way...

But getting on topic with the OP, sucks that the poor sap couldnt put two and two together...but kudos and  to the air force commander for the rebuttal

I'm sure there are countries that would welcome you. Please, just try! Cuba would be a great start, but Castro is a little careful about who he allows in. Don't let initial failure discourage you. China could work.

Yet your demeanor and the nature of your responses to anyone who doesn't immediately agree with you makes it clear you're not looking to discuss. You interpreted the letters one way, some others interpreted it differently and suggested that perhaps the original letter write wasn't completely in the wrong. Is that not the nature of "discussion... about issues?"

If you're only looking for people who agree with you 100% and are going to start making blanket statements about "libbies" and dismissing anything anyone says in opposition to your views, telling them not to bother posting, then perhaps you should be posting in a message board populated only (or primarily) by like-minded people. Try the forums anncoulter.com or hannity.com, for example. But if you truly do want "discussion" with this mixed group of people, then you should at least pretend to entertain the possibility that someone other than you (and/or one who agrees with you) has a right to an opinion.

I'd be bummed if they passed by me and I didn't get a chance to see them.

Anyway that letter gave Jerome a chance to once again over generalize those who don''t happen to think like him about other topics thus served a purpose.... to trivialize any thoughts he may post here.

Hell the person might not have even been a Liberal but that wouldn't matter to Jerome as long as he can use it to demonize all those who might not share his inbred beliefs.

These guys often complain about Left Wing Kooks like sillyTIM, Protelariat and Steeplerot but you know they love them just so the can use them to as an example as how all those who aren't in lock step with the Right Wing extremisit pov are as out of touch with reality as they are. The Ying for their Yang.

Holy crap, spare me the lecture. I purposely posted BECAUSE I knew some people would disagree. I hate it when people get all butthurt because someone (like me) has an opinion... as if I'm supposed to be nicey PC and validate everyone else's opinion. I have a suggestion for you: If you're such a wuss that you can't stand strong opinions and clear disagreements, go to those websites you mentioned. Obviously P&N isn't for thin skinned crybabies.

after reading over this thread again i've come to this conclusion:

the thread serves no purpose.

it's very apparent this guy had no clue why the jets flew real low over his house and if he had known he wouldn't have written this letter. but if we assumed for a second that it wasn't for a funeral (just hypothetically here) he has a pretty reasonable gripe. there have certainly been instances where pilots have done foolish things thinking they are hot-shots and gotten themselves and/or others killed and risked peoples lives. this whole situation has absolutely nothing to do with liberals hating the country or the military (which i question as being true) and as reddawn pointed out the guy may very well have not been a liberal - just someone who made a rather poor decision. only a completely unreasonable person would make the jump to "this guy must be liberal and all liberals hate this country and the military and should leave - yeeeeeehhhhaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!"

Wrong. I stated a simple OP for amusement purposes, and notice it was only when a couple Libs started posting their slanted attacks on me that I turned political. Somehow they're ideological salvos get a pass  As always.......

It's more like you people get your titties in a knot when someone -like me- posts something and the looney left emerges to embarass you. Which is kinda strange, considering you're a bit of a closet conservative ;)

I guess I'm just one of those "wussy" people who can manage to discuss things with people with whom I disagree without feeling a need to resort to childish namecalling and ad hominem attacks. No worries... I think you're entitled to your opinions, even if you think no one else is. But that's quite enough of this troll thread for me. :)

Besides taking a running jump off the conclusion mat, the other thing he did poorly was take his gripe public before calling Luke AFB and asking why the jets were flying so low.

I hope the guy does the right thing and at least issues an apology, and maybe makes a nice donation to a related charity.

Imagine the irony if Mr. MacRae's wife were dying of terminal cancer, and the jet fly-over awoke her from the only sleep she'd been able to get in two weeks. And that Mr. MacRae has spent all his energy in attempting to care for her, finally got her in a restful state, only to have the jets ruin it all.

Ignorance of someone else's situation works both ways. We really don't know about what's going on in Mr. MacRae's life, either. I realize it's very like MacRae was simply jumping to conclusions, but that may not be the whole story. So, as much as we'd like to judge him harshly, perhaps we should not make any assumptions one way or the other.

None of that is relevant and even if it was - it wouldn't change anything. What if.... What if it was a street sweeper... What if it was his phone ringing from because someone called the wrong number....

It's called life. This kid seems to think the world around him should rotate on his schedule judging from his letter. Boo Hoo...
