You are right now that I think about it as Spain is in Europe. So the Spanish Culture can be included in your statement that America did derive it's culture from European Countries (as did Mexico, Cuba and the rest of the Western Hemisphere)

Spanish immigrants were definately not of the majority. Most were from northern Europe, which is most certainkly not under Spanish influence (At least during the time of the immigrations)

LOL, The Southwest US and Florida was owned by Spain. THere weren't many Northern European Immigrants until the Mid 19th century (well at least in the SW) To say that the Spanish culture there isn't predominant is ignorant. A Majority of the Towns and Cities in the SW have Spanish names.

In that regards your right. I misunderstood what you were referring to. Most of South America was claimed by Spain. However, the immigrants overthrew the Spanish rule and claimed the land for themselves. Thus Spanish culture was there but Mexico as we know it was still establishing its own identity

the thing that grates me is when i see truck and either on the top of the windshield or across the back window of the truck they plastered in big letters that span all the way across the state they came from. The area i live in the most poplular ones i see are

Chihuahua
Guerrero
Veracruz

If where you came from is so great, GO BACK!!! Its no different when I lived in Germany, I would never plaster a banner that said COLORADO across the back window of my car. I consider it very rude and disrespectful.
