Well sir! Rest assured I will NOT be eating any of your chicken sandwiches thank you very much.

They did some polls at my university. There was a strong correlation between GPA and religiousness (the more religious you are, the lower your GPA). There was also a fairly strong relationship between being non-religious and being in the engineering or sciences area.
(granted it was an informal email poll, not a proper poll, etc).
just in case of what? according to christianity agnostics would burn in hell anyway. as an atheist I just consider the absence of a deity to probable and a practical belief to hold. if evidence were to arise confirming the existence of a deity, I'd convert in a heartbeat.
I work for the Air Force and asside from us all choosing the same career field (computer programming) we didn't choose to work together in any way. We're all atheists though.
We all just happen to be atheist.
Huge difference between that and purposely cherry-picking people who are atheist or asking during the interview if someone is religious or not.
My boss isn't stupid and understands the rules. 🙄
Ours is a lab of evolutionary geneticists.
and nearly all of us are European, so....
um... except for the part where you prejudicially assume that those with faith have not gotten rid of their ingrained prejudices.First off, "atheism" isn't a religion and secondly, welcome to the future where we have gotten rid of ingrained prejudices and assumptions.
i don't get why people are atheist. why not agnostic, just in case?
To be a good engineer and/or scientist, you need good logic skills. If you have good logic skills, you don't buy into the religious stuff because it isn't logical.
Why don't religious people believe in every God, just in case?
I wasnt aware that being christian affected the value of 4+4, the sin(x), the atomic weight of carbon, the electrical charge between 2 charged particles, or the lift and drag of a swept wing.
the idea that religious folks are less intelligent or dont have logic reasoning, or make poor engineers, is nothing but trolling, IMO.
As for being illogical, it would seem that aethists are more illogical than the religious as most archaeological studies show that the 3 major religious texts (the bible, the koran, the tanakh) are all very much being historically accurate. Somehow you aethists seem to ignore that.
I think that most people who call themselves atheist are really agnostic. Its just the phrasing. Saying that you're agnostic means that you aren't sure, but it makes it seem like you lean towards a religious possibility.
People who call themselves atheists are probably really agnostics but lean towards the lack of a religious possibility. Not wanting to be confused, they call themselves atheist.

I spent 20 plus years in the Air Force and I can assure you that the entire Air Force populous are not atheists. I still work as a civilian with Air Force and most are actually quite religious. Me, I'm Catholic although not practicing.
This. Most of my people probably check christian on the census but do not attend church or read the bible or care about religion.dont' give a fuck

You stupid or what?
Agnosticism is an academic distinction, it's irrelevant. Atheism is simply not believing in religion. A vague philosophical notion that somehow can't really really know anything for sure doesn't make you believe in religion and thus agnosticism is just a sub-direction of Atheism.
