Here is how I see atheist thinking:
1.There is no God.
2.Miracles are the supernatural work of God.
3.Therefore, miracles are impossible.
4.The Bible contains reports of miracles.
5.Therefore, the Bible contains legendary material or historical misrepresentations.
6.Therefore, the Bible cannot be trusted.
7.Therefore, there is no evidence for God.
8.Therefore, there is no God.
Circular reasoning.
So lets stop with that nonsense and get back to a discussion without using such irrationality.
I've already said I'd be very open to believing, I just need to see extraordinary evidence for these claims (extraordinary compared to our normal day to day life... something like the faithful praying a mountain into the sea, as the bible says you can do. Or somebody praying for someone who lost a limb and it grows back (kind of odd how all the medical miracles are always for something that has a chance of improving anyway)) to believe, but all we have is an old book full of inaccuracies at best, lies at worst.
I am not stuck on my position being right. I don't try and warp reality to my beliefs (or lack of beliefs), that is the difference. The faithful christian 'knows' his god is the right one, that jesus is the divine son of god and a miracle worker, etc. The burden is on christians to show they are right, that their religion is right and there is in fact a divine god. Until then christianity is just another fairy tale, just a more popular one around this part of the world then other fairy tales in other parts of the world.
