No Lifer
so i just went to 7-11 to get a couple snacks, and when the transaction was done the lady was just like 'thank you' and didnt put my items in a bag. so i asked her if she could put it in a bag and she was like 'it is now 5 cents for a bag' and i was like 'are you seroius?' and she said yea, but would just give me the bag this time for free.

i was like wtf? i went there yesterday and got a bag and had no mention of it, so i guess it is something they started this new year.

i just thought this was very odd and a kinda wtf thing. more the principle than anything though.

Paying for plastic bags is a great idea and I've been to several countries where they do this. They want you to bring your own bag. It's better for the environment.

When I moved out of my last place I had something stupid like 50 lbs of plastic bags that I had to take to my local supermarket to try to put in their recycling thing. Yeah that wasn't easy.

nope.

want to inform the uninformed?

I don't suppose you live in CA? You get charged for plastic bags this year and so we all need to start bringing reusable bags. It's a pain but plastic bags are pretty terrible. People dump them in regular plastic recycling bins not knowing that they shouldn't.

Funny how the things that actually happen dont get heard about. Obamas health plan is never going through but we'll talk about it all day long.
No one discusses the bag tax and it went through easily.

Pretty much all grocery stores here charge for bags. I've never heard of a convenience store charging though.

While it is annoying, it is a push in the right direction. We should all own a bunch of reusable bags that we take shopping with us.

i actually watch the news and didnt know of this.

nation wide or just some places?

grocery stores here do not charge for bags

Safeway started this bullshit too. I went there today and they had a sign, "Started Jan 1st we are charging for bags." Ok, fine, but give me more than 0 days notice. I would have grabbed all the bags from the self checkout if they had posted it in advance.

The answer: Don't shop at 7-11. After a few days/weeks of little sales they will get the picture that they may have stepped "over the line".

Convenience stores SUCK ...
