6700K price going up??? Now $399.99 @ Newegg

Low Intel yields at 14 nm and high clocks. Might as well sell those few CPUs that get produced at the highest possible price.

Don't forget the new S-spec for the SKL CPUs that have SGX enabled.

Maybe they ran down the stock of the older chips, and that's giving the appearance of low supply?

Currency exchange.

Specially due to oil price.

no i meant what happened to the 329 USD quad from intel with hyperthreading?

2600k, 3770k, 4770k were all under 330 USD.

then the 5775C and 6700k are 40-80 dollars more.

is it the cost of a die shrink?

or in the case of the 5775c, the cost of the iris gpu?

even the i7 920 was less than 300 USD at launch.

Inflation.

5775C is special due to Iris Pro and EDRAM.

Also you remember wrong. 🙂
920 305$
860 305$
2600K 317$
2700K 332$
3770K 342$
4770K 350$
4790K 350$
6700K 350$

The 6600K is creeping up as well at some sources---274 at Newegg; 276 at Amazon (not in stock till 11/22).

The Gigabyte board I had my eye on was 150 on introduction and is now 165.

DDR4 RAM seems to be stable or trending down slightly.

I'm wondering if Black Friday will see prices reduced only to where they were 2 months ago--if at all.

My upgrade itch is waning.

my ivy would probably last 2 more years or cpu gens. I am just waiting on zen to give me more cores at the same performance per core. or maybe intel would do that too, preemptively. we will see.

You mix tray and box prices. Also just use ark.intel.com. Anandtech writes 340$ for example for the 4790K, while the picture in their review shows 339$. The 4790K in this case is 339$ tray, 350$ box. The tray price of 6700K is 339$.

Who cares about the tray/box 6700K when both come without a cooler anyway. Not to mention it's even more expensive in some places. Like the shop you bought your 6700K from, for example. Ark prices are just a reference point, nothing more.

Tray comes with 2 years warranty in the EU. But in the US for example you are often down to 30-90days. Where the box version always got 3 years.

Also Intel wont handle any tray warranties direct. You have to go via shops/OEM for that.

Proshop.dk price yesterday was 3190 for the 6700K as well. With 2900 and removing VAT it comes down to 333$. That's a real bargain.

ShintaiDK,

Thank you for reminding me these things. I stopped paying attention to CPUs warranties like a decade ago. Nice price, yeah.
