You're right, many Colts need work out of the box which is a shame... But is it is minor work, they can all be fixed.Originally posted by: tcsenter
Ahh, Colt doesn't even produce a flawless "out-of-the-box" gun. A friend of mine is a former Marine (from 1962 - 1970), the first handgun he ever shot was a 1911 and he's preferred them ever since.
Your friend is lucky, he got a good one (they do exist I'm sure). I've just shot a few and seen the reviews and so on, lousy guns on average.Guess what his favorite is? A worked-over Llama, he swears by it. A qualified gun-smith who has enough expertise in 1911's can do wonders.
Yea, that is one thing to be said for revolvers, it somehow doesn't go bang, pull the trigger again. 😉Don't have to worry about ammunition selection, it shoots everything just as well. Capacity is a concern, but only police are likely to get into shoot-outs. The typical civilian defense scenario is not a prolonged exchange of gun fire.
