Are you really sure a .45 is what you really want to CC?? Can you afford to go to the range and shoot .45 regularly as you should with your carry weapn? The weight and bulk of it can be a serious pain in the a$$.

A good firearm should feel like an extention of your arm itself, not a huge chunk of metal with a mega cannon attached to the end. For 99% of the people in the world, a Desert Eagle will not feel comfortable by any means...

With that said, you're a dumbhead. 😉

Do you carry it? I was thinking about getting one for carry...but I haven't done more than see one in pictures as of yet. A range has one for rent and I might check it out...but still, it is way too big for most of the population to even consider carrying.

What's your life worth?

If you're going to bother, spend the money and buy something good.

Kimber is the best, if expensive. Colt is really good too, if you have them worked on (new they sometimes have rough edges, but any gunsmith can fix that).

Nothing a gunsmith can do can correct the problems wtih Llama's, crap guns, I've shot them.

You get what you pay for in the firearm world, no way around that one.

I personally carry a Colt Commander 1991A1. It is a modern update to the 1911, some better safety features, 4.25" barrel, goes bang every time. Cost me about $450 to buy, about $100 to have all the parts polished and smoothed (this part is really imporant), and I only shoot the expensive ammo through it.

I've put thousands of rounds through it in the past 4 years, never a fail to feed, never a fail to fire. Goes bang every time. In a self-defense handgun, that's really all that counts.

I have had two 1911's from colt, both jammed even after a smith tuned them . What 1911A1 are you refering to?

Skip the older (pre 70's) 1911 guns, they were built in another time for bullets that are no longer made.

Also, don't use hollow points in a .45. I carry Federal Expanding Point FMJ ammo. Feeds like FMJ, functions like JHP. Expensive, but I've seen what they do to apples and oranges. 😉

Sig for double. If you wan't single action, Kimber. My 2¢
Yep, Kimber makes the finest single action .40 S&W and .45 ACP handguns in the world.

You'll pay for that too. 😉

WTG is that thing on top???? Is that an AR15 based pistol??

It's one of those pistols made of unobotanium, since the limits on stored ammo went into effect. It's a Calico M100 9mm pistol, & holds 50 rounds. It's a little big, but when you absolutely, positively have to start a war, it's awesome. Mine's a semi auto, but they made more than a few full auto, all in the hands of the military & police now, though.

Most countries classify it as a rifle, but I could carry it in TX with my permit, but hopefully there'll never be a need to, besides, I don't own a big enough jacket to cover it...

Ahh, Colt doesn't even produce a flawless "out-of-the-box" gun. A friend of mine is a former Marine (from 1962 - 1970), the first handgun he ever shot was a 1911 and he's preferred them ever since.

He has been NRA instructor and FFL holder for more than 20 years, completed Ayoob's LF-1 course, and has taken several advanced handgun and tactical rifle courses from Gunsight and Thunder Ranch. For the last 10 years, he has shot IPSC. He has owned Colt Deltas, Commanders, Gold Cups, Springfield Armory, Para Ordinance, and a few others. Guess what his favorite is? A worked-over Llama, he swears by it. A qualified gun-smith who has enough expertise in 1911's can do wonders.
H&K makes great pistols. The only problem is their compact versions aren't all that compact.
And their full-framed guns are huge. I have hands that are on the smallish side for a man, so a lot of guns just seem huge to me. I can shoot them, but I don't like to.

When I lived in Michigan and my CCW permit was good for something other than wallet stuffing, I carried a spurless Ruger SP101 in .357 with combat grips. Nice little carry rig, not too bulky, fits nice in the small of your back. Don't have to worry about ammunition selection, it shoots everything just as well. Capacity is a concern, but only police are likely to get into shoot-outs. The typical civilian defense scenario is not a prolonged exchange of gun fire.
