Yes, yes, that ought to give you Max Headroom for oc'ing.

Mushkin says this about nf7-s and their ram

[slight topo in my earlier post, should have been PC3500, not PC3700] Anyways, hope anyone thinking of getting Mushkin RAM checks out NewEgg's prices. You can save a few bucks there.

Ok, I couldn't resist. I picked up a 2400+ for $77 (great price). After missing out on the 1700+ blitz the first time around, I'm going to jump on ye olde bandwaggonne before it's too late.

I'll be using PC3200 RAM (Kingston 2x256 dual channel) for this which should give me adequate (though not Max) Headroom for overclocking.

They forgot to tell you one more thing. You won't be overclocking the same with 2x512 as with 2x256. AMD has a serious problem handling 4 banks. 2x256 will go much further.

2500 or 2600 for me, unless there's no ultimate gain over the 2400. Do you guys recommend the NF7-S? And me too, recommended memory? I'm going to run at rated speeds for the first week or so, then OC it after I read up a bit more (a bit of noob fear) I'm looking forward to the satisfaction of building a good computer, and am trying to avoid pitfalls that'll make it unpleasant.

I have decided to jump on the mobile 2400+ barton too. Anyone know if i can get about to about 2.5ghz with air cooling? I got the vantec aero flow, and the Mushkin PC3500 2.3.3 ram.

i wonder how much faster the barton really is consedering my duron 1.6 GIG goes to 2.5 gig at 1.7v.

Low heat but also low cache...

Cost = 40 bux.

Might try and unlock the 256k cache.

I'm far from the expert, but I'm pretty sure it'll spank the Duron unless you can get that thing up to about 4GHz

Depending on the metrics used, I'm sure it could beat a Raptor. If velocity from my throwing arm were used, I'm positive the Barton would beat the Raptor. Hope this helps.

or you can try tying the Barton to a stick and hitting the Raptor very hard

I'm not sure Jurassic Park 1-3 is sufficient enough evidence that Raptors off some fierce competition, especially when attacking in packs or arrays...

I don't know...because I learned over on a different thread that a Western Digital Raptor can beat ANYTHING out there, probably including a Barton. The only way to know for sure is with benchmarks.
