That's a bit too vague to be true...
Athlon XPs themselves are not affected by number of memory banks, that is completely impossible. On the other hand, the chipsets supporting them (northbride, where the memory controller is),(and the motherboard design and allowed timing parameters from the BIOS) are the factors to consider.

Remember these CPU's come with the multiplier unlocked! If you run out of FSB headoom, just try tweaking the multiplier. ;)

P.S. The Raptor is a HARD DRIVE, the Mobile Barton is a CPU. So unless your asking if the Raptor would beat the Barton on MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch, your comparison has no relevance.

You guys make me want to order the 2400+. I've been playing with Dells lately and ignoring my AMD machines. :D

BTW, ValsalvaYourHeartOut is just yanking your chains. He got into a big "discussion" in the Raptor thread posted above until it was locked. Interesting reading. :Q

I am aware that the Raptor is a HD and the Barton is a cpu...however, according to the solid reasoning of some of the bright and intelligent minds on ATHD, a Raptor can beat anything, and the only way to prove otherwise is with benchmarks. Can you show benchmarks that the Barton can beat a Raptor? No. I didn't think so.

Ok enough bringing your baggage from a different post to this one. :) Ok, so I got my 2400+ up to 2400 Mhz now! Its been running on Prime 95 for about an hour. 200X12. I guess I just had to give it more time to burn in before I adjusted it much. Its been running all day on different settings. I'm going to see how far I can take it.. 2600Mhz is my goal. heh we'll see.

I dont know! I wish I had looked at the dang chipset before I happily pasted arctic silver all over it and put the hs/f on. Is there any way to tell without ripping this thing apart? Here are my current stats:

2436 Mhz (203 X 12)

I'm taking it slow from here on out... I'm going to try to get 2500 and then let it run Prime95 overnight.

At what temp would you guys stop OC'ing? I'm at 49C right now while under full load running Prime95. I was going to put my limit at 50 but that is so close :) ... any suggestions?

Would stop at 65C. Voltage is a more important thing to consider. What are you at now?

No, there's noway to tell the stepping without looking at the physical appearance.

I'm at 1.8 vcore and 2.7 vdimm... I hope to reach 2500 on these settings.. otherwise I'll try 1.825 vcore... think 1.85 is too high?

1.85 is alright. Don't go more than that unless you want to get a new barton much sooner than you thought.

Is your rig on air cooling? I just tried going for gold and the 2500.. got into windows but no prime 95. :( that was with 210 X 12. Might try looser timings and see if it works.. right now I'm going to bed with Prime 95 running 2472Mhz overnight. 1.825 is my max vcore I think... we'll see what we can get with that.

Well, bedtime. I tried 2500 from 200 X 12.5 and no go either. about 3 minutes of Prime 95 and it rebooted. I also tried 2472Mhz (206 X 12) and it didnt go. Any suggestions anyone? I'm running 1.825 vcore, 2.7 vdimm, 2-2-3-6 settings on pc3200, 2400+mobile... I can't quite seem to get it to the 2500 mark I would love to hit. I'm at 2448Mhz (205 X 12) and going to leave it on overnight running Prime... Hopefully I'll wake up and someone will have the solution to getting past 2500Mhz! :)

Right now it's running 166x14 2338mhz. I'm still using 2 older sticks of samsung CTL and a mismatched 256 meg till i order some mushkin. So higher fsb isn't going to happen right now. Idle its around 38-39, system 25, prime 24 hour load is 46 1.75 volts. Using a not so good volcano 9+.

THIS CPU IS FUKKING INSANE.

I GOT A 2600. IT RUNS STOCK SPEED AS LOW AS MY VOLTAGE WILL GO, 1.4V. IT RUNS 2.5 GHZ AT 1.65V.

UNFORTUNATELY, 2.6 GHZ WILL NOT WORK AT ALL, NO MATTER THE VOLTAGE. IT REFUSES TO POST.
