Let’s pretend Dems somehow manage to keep house majority and get 51 in the senate. Which R senator could croak where there a D governor that they’ll select replacement senator?
Wisconsin maybe?????.???.??

I do not wish bad to anyone's health regardless of their political affiliation (let's remember that if it wasn't for John Mccain, ACA would have been repealed).

With 98% reported, looks like Boebert has pulled ahead by about 400 votes. Not sure how much is outstanding or in what counties.

Now that's a shame. Hope that isn't the case. Both parties win when that kind of stupid is cleansed from Congress.

I heard him say Ron DeSanctimonious earlier today...and can't wait for him to mouth salad that one a thousand times.
At some point, the COVID denier in Chief will probably parrot the libz and roll out Ron DeathSantis. Then they can argue as to who was more successful at culling recipients of Social Security benefits.

Unless you're regularly mingling in Republican-land I think a good deal of people on the left don't actually understand the dynamic Trump plays with the Republican party. Everybody knows Trump is an asshole. Almost all of his voters are completely aware of this. I would be willing to bet that more than half of the people who vote for Trump don't actually even like him on a personal level. People who vote for Trump do so as a shield against the things they do not like on the left. That's it. Republicans feel threatened by the left and Trump is the savior and it doesn't matter what he does or how he does it so long as he shields them in the end. He can shoot someone in the middle of the street or grab you by the pussy, it doesn't matter, he's still going to get votes because liberals are that much worse. There's no mystery nor secret here, it's honestly that simple. Humans love making things complicated.

As for DeSantis / Trump, if Trump runs they're going to obviously vote for Trump. But Republicans at this point would like to break free of Trump's baggage and DeSantis is a clean slate and by doing shit like shipping immigrants to Martha's Vineyard, to taking on Disney, declaring war against 'wokeism,' so forth and so on, Republicans love this shit. If Trump and DeSantis go head to head DeSantis will win. I personally know of exactly zero Republicans that want Trump over DeSantis, even prior to the win in Florida they already wanted DeSantis. I'm even including Trump supporters I know who have attended Trump rallies.

Here's a fun experiment. If you know a Republican ask if they want Trump or DeSantis. The answer isn't going to be Trump. If DeSantis wins the R primary and runs for the presidency then Democrats might actually see that supposed red wave that was alleged to occur the other day.

I kinda doubt tribalism and lies are going to defeat the reality of more Gen Zs voting while fewer boomers do it. You think the Roe v Wade fury just evaporated yesterday? Repugs are going to keep throwing stare decisis out the window on contraception, gay marriage, etc and it will continue to motivate people to 'forget policy, first fix crazy' as they say. Younger generations just got proof they can alter the trajectory of the country, will be energized - meanwhile the GQP continues to have "candidate quality issues" while their voters continue to dwindle under preventable diseases, poorer health outcomes and old age.

The math just isn't there for you guys in the future, and most of you know it. It's why right wing culture war types have been feverishly trying to entrench right wing control and insulate it from the effects of elections as much as possible. The people who think girls of 10 are old enough to bear children, boys of 18 old enough for assault rifles, now want the voting age to be raised to 21, or higher.

More fascism isn't a winning formula for the national stage, but if you guys need to learn that dynamic again, I'm super into it.

It looks like the house should be around 222 GOP and 223 Dems. That’s not going to be a big enough margin for the to go full on crazy. The people just elected in competitive districts aren’t likely to go down that road for fear of being a one termed.

I just don't see a good outcome for the GOP.
Trump wins. Trumps pretty toxic to a lot of swing voters. Yeah he's got his fanatics but they would be voting R anyway.
DeSantis wins. Trump is just going to gripe and bitch the entire time and his wing of the party are possibly going to hate DeSantis more than the Democrats because it was DeSantis that took Trumps crown! I suppose there's an option where DeSantis wins and Trump graciously withdraws and gives his support but is that likely?
Impossible. Trump has to frame himself as top dog.

Republican self-reflection:
"We weren't conservative enough."
"We need to be true conservatives."
"The voters didn't hear our conservative message."

Same crap since Nixon.
If they ever conclude it's time to abandon conservatism, they might regenerate. Impossible? Don't know. IMO, it's the worst thing they could have done.

oh ok, i thought they were around 10 years younger each. makes a bit more sense strategy wise
Obama's 61 and was a constitutional expert. He's also declarative and persuasive. Would have more sway than a single vote on the court. However, serving on the court would likely curtail his usefulness on the campaign trail if not nix it. Just dreaming here I guess.

No one is thinking he’ll lose. Unfortunately there’s just too many ballots left for media to call it.

Well no one here anyway lol. Only real question in AZ is what happens in the gov race.

Completely disagree. I live in Republican land and people here LOVE Trump for being an asshole. Not as a lesser of two evils like you seem to think, but as someone who echoes all the anger and grievances they have been spoonfed for decades by the right wing mass media without apology. Clear Channel and Fox News have been priming their audience to want someone just like Trump for decades and now they have it. They voted for Romney because they hate the libs but they fucking love the Dear Leader.

I looked at the margins for Clark and Washoe counties in Nevada, and I'm afraid it will be hard for CCM to close the gap. :( But it is unknown what the "makeup" of the remaining ballots is like, because Nevada went to a universal mail-in voting standard this time.

That would be quite impressive since there are a total of only 435 House Seats. Repubs will likely land around 220 members. Also, it's the opposite effect than you've described. The narrower the majority is for the GOP, the less able McCarthy will be able to control his caucus. Not only will the MAGA wing make his life miserable, they will actively try to shut down the federal government and create all kinds of other chaos (i.e. impeaching POTUS or his cabinet members).

If Uncle Thomas' wife can try to overthrow the government then there's no way Justice Obama can't campaign for the Democrats.
