And this is key:

"Within the past hour or so, there is evidence in radar imagery of a secondary eyewall, and this has likely caused Ida's intensity to level off for now. Although Ida's extreme winds are confined to the inner eyewall, the aircraft data indicate that hurricane-force winds extend outward about 45 n mi to the northeast of the center, and based on buoy data the tropical-storm-force wind field extends outward about 130 n mi northeast of the center."

The 150 winds are only near the eyewall, NOLA itself may see far lower winds.

Not unreasonable. As the winds slow down, the clouds expand due to the loss of the cyclonic effect.

Ever see a figure skater slow down from a tight spin ... letting the arms stretch out?

Bad thing is it will be above Hurricane winds for 12-24 hours and has slowed forward motion a bit. Imagine being under 75-100 MPH winds for 12 hours.

Then it may survive to get back out into the Atlantic in some form.

"By 72 hours, Ida is predicted to merge with a frontal zone over the eastern United States and become an extratropical low, and this low is forecast to strengthen into a gale center near Atlantic Canada by the end of the forecast period."

Just saw a weatherperson point out that as it came ashore it did so over an area of very wet swampland which had plenty of warm water to feed it more, they remarked about how intact the eyewall remained even after moving onshore, Jesus this is a hell of a storm.

New Orleans will probably fill up with water again. The government will spend untold billions restoring the place at taxpayers' expense. So at what point can we abandon the city and just let it become a lake.

What do I have to suck up, that you are a soulless piece of shit like Trump's sons?

I could literally take your posts on political matters and nobody could guess it didn't come from a mini Trump.

Shouldn't you feel complimented? I mean you sound like them, you think like them, you must look up to them. They are the spawn of your cult leader and are as reasonable and as based on reality and as good people as Trump himself. Y'all are peas in a pod.

Stop being ashamed of the filth you sound like. It's telling you get upset at it Be proud.

I might guess their transmission lines or even power plants are located to the west of the city?
Bad place to be tonight.
