You're absolutely right... Except you have to remember that some rural counties in middle America just don't have young people... Especially if they're in school somewhere closer to a city or out of state and voting is made difficult for them.
This graphic should strike terror into the heart of every Republican... Except for the fact that the blue demographics don't vote as much as the red ones.

So this entire time we have been hearing about this 'blue wave', it was just really about taking control of the House and nothing else....all of those people weren't really fed up with Trump and the Republicans, they were just mad that the democrats didn't control the house...
Is that right?

Pretty much. You can check the "election prediction" thread to see what everyone was saying.
Things to note:
Seats were won in districts where the current president won by double digits.
Democrats won seats and took over the house, despite and good economy and a record low unemployment rate.
Because of gerrymandering, Democrats needed to win by 10-13 points in order to grab 23 seats to take over the house. Whereas in previous, less gerrymandered years, Democrats would have only needed to win by 7 points.
Mid term elections typically result in very low turnout by Democrats whereas this year Democrats came out in record numbers.
A majority of senate seats that were up for election were for Democrats in Republican states.
Democrats beat incumbent Republicans in red areas and made solid inroads in what was considered Republican strongholds.
So by all accounts it was a pretty good showing considering some of the results.
Its certainly was no shelacking like it was in 2010 but that wasn't ever the expectation.

Can't wait 'til January when the Dem controlled House starts ramping up all of those investigations against the Trump admin. that the Repubs in Congress stifled and sat on since Trump took office. If only Mueller would slab that icing on the cake and indict the Trump kids simultaneously, now that would have been worth the wait.
It would seem that the root of a lot of our problems in America is that the majority doesn’t in fact rule.
