You're absolutely right... Except you have to remember that some rural counties in middle America just don't have young people... Especially if they're in school somewhere closer to a city or out of state and voting is made difficult for them.

This graphic should strike terror into the heart of every Republican... Except for the fact that the blue demographics don't vote as much as the red ones.

Hey wait a minute, I was told repeatedly that black people love Trump now. What happened?

Can't wait 'til January when the Dem controlled House starts ramping up all of those investigations against the Trump admin. that the Repubs in Congress stifled and sat on since Trump took office. If only Mueller would slab that icing on the cake and indict the Trump kids simultaneously, now that would have been worth the wait.
Why do you think Sessions is out come friday?

It's possible Trump himself will be perfectly happy with a Democratic House to provide a "villain" for his blustering and accusations, and a scapegoat for his problems and failures. For him it's much less about specific policy goals than about drama and posturing for his base. He would be much happier in the role of "lone hero" beleaguered by the evil gang of career politicians than he is in the role of top bureaucrat of the party that controls the government. Besides, this reality show hasn’t had a good plot twist in a couple of seasons.

Get ready for more of this:

The President’s Lies

In Chattanooga, before a packed stadium of hooting supporters, he began an animated, 45-minute oration this way: “This is one of the most important elections of our time. This is a big one. It will decide whether we build on the extraordinary prosperity that we’ve achieved for our nation or whether we let the radical Democrats take control of Congress and take a giant wrecking ball to our economy and our future.” And then came the misinformation:

1. “They want to raise your taxes by double and even by triple;”

2. “They want to take away your health care [and] they want to impose socialism on our country;”

3. “They want to erase America’s borders;”

4. “Democrats want to invite caravan after caravan of illegal aliens to pour into our country;”

5. “That’s an invasion of our country;”(Here, the crowd in excess of 10,000 people in the McKenzie Arena at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga began chanting: “Build that wall, build that wall...”)
6. “The Democrats want to abolish ICE and turn America into a giant sanctuary city for gang members and MS-13 killers.”

7. “If Democrats gain power on Tuesday, they will try to raid your Medicare to fund socialism, you know that.”

8. “The Democrat health care plan would obliterate Medicare and eliminate Medicare Advantage for more than half a million Tennessee seniors.”

9.“The Democrats’ plan to destroy health care also includes giving away your benefits to illegal immigrants, you know that.”

10. “As we speak, Democrats are openly encouraging millions of illegal aliens to break our laws, violate our borders, and destroy our nation in so many ways, and they want to sign them up for free welfare, free health care, free education and, most importantly, the right to vote. They want them to vote. Come on in and vote. They love them voting.”

11. “And Republicans will always protect patients with pre-existing conditions. Please remember that.”

None of those claims is hard to debunk—but the last one, about Republicans always protecting pre-existing conditions, speaks to a president and many other Republicans running for Congress who have simply become unmoored from the truth on health care, which polling shows is by far the number one issue among voters.

Did a R win massachussetts ??

Are you referring to Baker? He was up for re-election, and yea looks like he won. I did not vote for him.

MA likes their R governers, and D legislators.

I didn't vote for Baker because of how nonchalant he seemed to be regarding social issues and support of GOP candidates who disagree with many MA residents, as the elections repeatedly show us.

This first article is a pretty good summary

https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2...ay-gonzalez/T9PH1lcfP7yOVMZIXreyqJ/story.html

This article is what I mean, endorsing GOP candidates even though they dont align with what you know your constituents overwhelmingly support.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2...op-nominees/CTFgd2ModXasMxsSTAItWK/story.html

Oh, and let's not forget this little nugget:

https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2...ion-surplus/UPVIqiBBXCgTC2EEUKYqfI/story.html
The ballot questions yielded some unsurprising results

If we have a surplus, even of 208 million, why the fuck am I dodging potholes on major roadways?

Some other scalps I'm looking for:

Nunes
Roarbacher the traitor
Walker

2 for 3 ain't bad.

Notable douchebags get knocked out
Important Gov wins
Some good in-roads into TX
Losing Tester would suck

But flipping the rust belt back to blue was huge.

Also note Obamacare won big last night. It's getting lost in the headlines, but big news.

Overall it was a good day

Undoubtedly he will attack the D House, however Trump just invents foils when he doesnt have them.

At least they have some power to push back

Yup, can't wait for the incessant "fake news" chants as the house calls him on his Bs.

If Democrats are smart every prospective chairman already has a list of investigations the length of their arm ready to go. If they don’t, they better spend the next two months doing exactly that. There should be a blizzard of subpoenas coming out of the House on day one.

Then of course we get to see Trump ignore them and try to fight releasing anything in the courts. How fun.

It’s not that terrifying. This election was about Trump and Trump alone. His coalition is the reliable GOP base. The Democrat coalition is more fractured, and similarly sent mixed messages. Conor Lamb and Ocasio-Cortez may be currently united in their opposition to Trump, but they are hardly aligned.

Midterms often place checks on the ruling party and this cycle was no exception. As expected, GOP kept the Senate and Democrats take the House.

Trump has the perfect opponent in Pelosi. Democrats need a new face. I would rather see the rising crop of Democrat military veterans become the face of leadership against Trump.

That seems like a really bad idea. Trump seems to relish adversity and a good fight. Never close in on a brawler if you have the advantage of reach.

I don't think there were too many surprises in this one. The Democrats had an easy path to the House, they got just what they needed with little extra. The Republicans had a good likelihood of maintaining their lead in the senate, and did as well as gained a few seats. I'm just glad that the Democrat DUI socialist didn't win in my state.

So glad Kobach and Yoder lost. One thing that sucks about being in KC is i get campaign commercials for both states. But looks like MO blew it on Hawley.

Instead, the craven, self-serving habitual liar (who told the truth about Trump until losing the 2016 primary) won. Er... congratulations?

Nunes can be the guy that holds the Dems beer.

Remember when Donny's little Nunesybear ran over to the white house in the middle of the night with those papers? Reminded me of a 6 year old running to his daddy to tell what the mean kids across the street were saying about him.

The Senate was important for holding off Trump's judges, but the House is the real source of power. Most legislation originates from there, they control funding to a large degree and they are the body which controls impeachment. I expect Trump to have Mueller gone or hamstrung by the end of the year, starting with Sessions soon, being replaced by someone who is exempt from ethical restraints. If the Dems hadn't taken the House, the reality of today would be one worse than yesterday.

I'll be honest, I didn't follow that race too closely and don't know much about his opponent other than the Democrats were in love with him. Sounded like a lose / lose proposition, this is probably the better outcome for America, though.

I disagree. The constitutional duty of Congress is to oversee the conduct of the executive branch and the amount of corruption that has been allowed to happen unchecked over the last two years likely has no precedent in US history.

There should be new hearings every day and new subpoenas every day. Two years won’t be close to enough time to get through all the sleaze so it’s important to get started right away.

It's definitely a move in the right direction, but I wish we could have had this election go down without all the gerrymandering. Republicans should be scared about 2020, goodbye Rustbelt, and more purple out there now.

No surprise about Texas really, but I'm pissed Nunes still has a job. Republicans had a chance to regain some respect and integrity there, but decided to stick with compromised automaton with the smarts of an avocado? I figured he and Kobach were going to be shown the door, at least one of the dolts is gone.

I do remember. He'll play the spy but he won't be protected by Republicans in the House. I don't know the Rules, but I'm not sure the House (AKA Dems) must have him on committees if they've determined he should not be for cause.

After the shit storm that's been the past 2 years I absolutely cannot believe D's actually lost 2 seats in the senate. I wasn't expecting a flip at all but to lose even more?? Yikes.

This migrant "caravan" thing was awfully convenient. Don't wanna slap the ol tin foil on, but... it makes me wonder.
