The same is true for Indiana and Illinois (I'm sure he votes for several of the Tax Thugs no less).

It's evil for a company to make loads of money off a product they refine and deliver to you but just fine for the government to come in and get their share like a mob boss.

“This president and his secretary of anti-energy, Dr. Chu, have as a goal getting us to pay European-level prices of $8 or $9. Dr. Chu was clear about that before he became secretary. He wants us to get to be a European-level price structure of $8 or $9 a gallon,” said Gingrich. “He said this week, in testifying in the House, he has ‘no intention of trying to lower the price of oil or the price of gasoline.’

Let me ask something. What do YOU think a sitting President can do to reduce gas prices other than nationalize the oil companies and set price controls on gas? The Federal tax is only 18.5 cents/gal. and was last raised in 1993, an eternity for not raising it.

So, how does Gingrich propose dropping gas costs? Or is his rhetoric just grandstanding, like it really was. (Remember, this was pres. candidate Gingrich making bullshit campaign speeches back in 2012....not exactly relevant today.)

And please include the REST of the partially quoted, 2012 article you posted:

“We always want lower gas prices, because that’s good for our economy. The question is whether it’s realistic to say, as the speaker did, that there’s some magic fairy dust that you can sprinkle and get $2.50 gas?"

So, it's been two years since that article posted, yet gas prices have been fairly stable. Where's that $8/gal price Gingrich predicted would come to fruition?

BTW....nice quoting an irrelevant, outdated article.

Looks like a handful of Propane Thugs will be dealt with while they let the Gasoline Thugs that rape the Country since 1973 continue to slide.

Propane gouging complaints skyrocket

INDIANAPOLIS - For Hoosiers dependent upon propane to heat their homes, this winter has been an especially tough season.

Supplies were limited nationwide, and as deliveries became difficult and prices skyrockets, price gouging complaints began slowing into the state attorney general's office.

The AG's office initially reported that it was investigating five businesses. The Call 6 Investigators have learned that number has mushroomed to 72 this week.

Investigators said that number may decrease once each provider's supplier is determined.

Once that challenge is resolved, providers will have to justify their pricing.

New numbers obtained by RTV6 show that, among other complaints, 26 Hoosiers reported to state regulators that their provider refused to deliver propane.

And in four of those cases, people had contracts to pay for propane at a specific price – a deal in black and white that they say was not honored.

The problem? There's not enough supply. Well, they can just pump out more. Nope, we can't due to tightening federal regulations, imposed by... guess who? Blame your masters, they're controlling the resources.

Has mcowned ever defined what a gas thug is? Now propane thugs, too? What are these people? "you" is a childish answer I expect he would respond with, but I wonder if there is anything deeper to his thought processes than insulting people who don't immediately rage over energy prices along with him.

Bahahahahaha OMFG

Who is this delusional twit?

Why not look at the rest of my post? After looking over the reams of bullshit that you've posted to this thread, the only twit here is you. Do you ever actually have a valid point in any discussion? No? Didn't think so.

Just curious, I thought US production was rising and we were pumping out more now than the last three decades? Did I miss something? North Dakota? Texas? California? On top of that, US gasoline usage is down to near a 20 year low (IIRC). Looks like rising supply and falling demand? (serious question).

Edit: Seems the quote above was about propane. Sorry, I though it was about gasoline and crude oil in the US. Nevermind my questions above.

Natural gas is not propane. Propane is derived from petroleum refining process and has some natural gas content.

Farmers used more than the normal amount to dry crops last fall and combined with a cold winter has severely depleted supplies.

What happened to the so called experts statement that gas won't spike?

Oh that's right Dave said it was bullshit.

Guess who is right again and the duo idiots on here, make that a trio now are obviously lying about their sub $3 gasoline:

Gasoline Prices Above $3 in All 50 States

By Douglas A. McIntyre

In a sign that oil prices and an extremely cold winter have affected gasoline prices, those prices are now more than $3 per gallon for regular in all 50 states. Even states in which the prices tend to be pushed down by proximity to supply and refineries, prices have not remained below the threshold.

According to GasBuddy, only a few states have prices below $3.15. These include Montana, South Carolina, Utah, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Wyoming, Missouri and Arkansas. Even oil-producing states Texas and Oklahoma have prices that have inched up toward $3.20. The average price of a gallon of regular nationwide is $3.34.

At the far end of the spectrum of high gas prices are several states that among them have well over a quarter of the nation’s population. The average price of a gallon of regular is above $3.60 in California and New York, and above $3.50 in Michigan, Illinois and Pennsylvania. In most cities along the coast between San Francisco and San Diego, the price has risen to more than $3.70.

Oil prices continue to sit above $100 a barrel. That is unlikely to change in the near term.

I'm still at a loss as to why you care so much about this one commodity?
Wheat, copper, frozen concentrated orange juice all fluctuate.
Peak oil is here, cheap oil is gone and we are willingly or unwillingly going to have to move away from oil and gas as a transportation staple through conservation or alternatives.
Its inevitable.

And who can forget the $10/gallon milk and $4/loaf bread prediction:

Where have you've been???

Bread has been $4 a long time here.

Milk over $7 and heading to $10 gal

You really are a sack of shit, you know that?

I have NEVER lied about how much our gas costs around where I live. It's been below $3/gal for quite a spell....several months, at least.

If it has risen above $3/gal, I'll be the first to say so, but since I've not been out of the house since last Sunday nor have I driven by a gas station since last Tuesday, I don't really know where it is right at this moment.

GasBuddy has stations reportedly at $2.99/gal yesterday. I'm about to go make a deposit at the bank, which is across the street from one of those stations. I'll check.

But you're still a sack of shit calling me a liar. Care to come out here and say that to my face, you sack of bully shit? Or are you just going to hide behind your keyboard and spout that diarrhea of the mouth you seem to have? Come on over here....I'll give you my address.....and let you meet some of my "children"....my Chow, my Lab. They'd just love to greet a steaming pile of feces. They, like most dogs, love piles of moose poop, wolf poop, deer poop.....wonder what they'd think of a stacked pile of lying, thieving POS poop? ;)

Absolutely, PM me your address and I certainly would schedule a trip to South Carolina. I visit family in Georgia so not long out the way to come over to the coast.

I don't, so please explain what is so special about your gas tank?
Conservation or alternatives is what I'm proposing, you are belly aching about a global commodity that has a complex pricing structure and consistently fail to see the big picture but fixate on every tiny disturbance in the force.
Give yourself less stress and figure out how to get out of the game since you can't handle it

My use my real name so I certainly don't hide behind the keyboard.

I've met quite a few folks from on here either by having them over at my place, meeting at a restaurant or even at their place.

Certainly with the vitriol that you spew from your keyboard/mouth I would meet in your town at a restaurant.

Nothing different about my gas tank than any other American being raped by the Oil Thugs.

Why do you give them a free pass? Do you always bend over without lube?

Americans have been conserving. We are subsidizing those that don't.

You think that is right?

Gasoline is the number one export of the United States, you either have a reading comprehension problem or like I said like to bend over without lube.

I am not stressed. You apparently are, why is that?

Oh that's right, you've got a gas pump spigot so high up your ass without lube and enjoying it.

You plan on going to the bank today to make a deposit?

Today is a Holiday, banks are closed.

Me thinks instead of threatening me with bullshit and calling me a liar all the time you should get out more and/or see a shrink.

You got obvious issues that posting vitriol anonymously behind a keyboard won't help you with.

My Sister is in the thick of it up north in Indiana. Problem is they're not even willing to sell it at "price gouge" prices, because they don't have enough supply to sell.

You think if they were gouging people they'd be willing to reap in all that easy cash and keep selling their propane. Yet she can't get them to sell any.

Whats wrong with exporting a finished product for profit? If Americans don't want to pay and others throughout the world will, it isn't a right for you to have cheap gasoline. period

Nope, haven't been out since Sunday. Had no need to go out. I am retired, after all.

And, ever hear of an ATM? You do understand you can make deposits into them, right? If not, welcome to the 21st century. And that's exactly what I did.....made the deposit for the mortgage payment we receive monthly on some land we sold. Nice to have a little supplement every month.

Gas is STILL $2.99/gal for regular. I guess you fail to comprehend the difference between AVERAGE prices per state and actual prices per location. Not surprising.

Took these pics a half hour ago......of course, I fully expect you to deny their authenticity.....but I've done nothing to them other than load them here.

First, something to authenticate today's date....my deposit slip from the ATM:

019.JPG

Next, the Hickory Point gas station across from and just up the street from the bank (notice the big red $2.99):

020.JPG

This pic has my deposit slip in front of the sign, but the slip is blurry....

021.JPG

And the Sunoco station just down Main Street, around the corner from the bank:

022.JPG

But I'm sure you'll either avoid these, deny they're real, deny they were taken today (which they were), or try to use any other excuse that they're what's being charged locally for reg. gas where I live. If I would bother to drive 20 miles, it'd be even cheaper.

These kinds of posts are worthless without qualifying where you live.

This is the current GasBuddy heat map:

http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspx

The range is <2.97 to >3.73 These include club pricing.

This is the averages:
http://www.gasbuddy.com/GB_Price_List.aspx by State and City

$3.069 to $4.043 and $3.050 to $3.970 respectively
