So, how does Gingrich propose dropping gas costs? Or is his rhetoric just grandstanding, like it really was. (Remember, this was pres. candidate Gingrich making bullshit campaign speeches back in 2012....not exactly relevant today.)

Propane gouging complaints skyrocket



INDIANAPOLIS - For Hoosiers dependent upon propane to heat their homes, this winter has been an especially tough season.


Supplies were limited nationwide, and as deliveries became difficult and prices skyrockets, price gouging complaints began slowing into the state attorney general's office.


The AG's office initially reported that it was investigating five businesses. The Call 6 Investigators have learned that number has mushroomed to 72 this week.



Investigators said that number may decrease once each provider's supplier is determined.


Once that challenge is resolved, providers will have to justify their pricing.

New numbers obtained by RTV6 show that, among other complaints, 26 Hoosiers reported to state regulators that their provider refused to deliver propane.

And in four of those cases, people had contracts to pay for propane at a specific price – a deal in black and white that they say was not honored.

Just curious, I thought US production was rising and we were pumping out more now than the last three decades? Did I miss something? North Dakota? Texas? California? On top of that, US gasoline usage is down to near a 20 year low (IIRC). Looks like rising supply and falling demand? (serious question).

Edit: Seems the quote above was about propane. Sorry, I though it was about gasoline and crude oil in the US. Nevermind my questions above.

Natural gas is not propane. Propane is derived from petroleum refining process and has some natural gas content.

Farmers used more than the normal amount to dry crops last fall and combined with a cold winter has severely depleted supplies.

Even oil-producing states Texas and Oklahoma have prices that have inched up toward $3.20. The average price of a gallon of regular nationwide is $3.34.


At the far end of the spectrum of high gas prices are several states that among them have well over a quarter of the nation’s population. The average price of a gallon of regular is above $3.60 in California and New York, and above $3.50 in Michigan, Illinois and Pennsylvania. In most cities along the coast between San Francisco and San Diego, the price has risen to more than $3.70.


Oil prices continue to sit above $100 a barrel. That is unlikely to change in the near term.
