OMFGBBQ it's winter, it's cold, let's use that as an excuse to rape Americans more.

Oil rises for 4th straight day

Oil passes $97 a barrel as cold snap boosts demand for heating oil; natural gas rises again

U.S. crude for March delivery rose 59 cents to close at $97.32 a barrel in New York.

Natural gas futures rose again, adding 4 cents to close at $4.73 per 1,000 cubic feet, as temperatures in many parts of the U.S. Northeast remained in the single digits and forecasts called for continued cold over the next week, boosting anticipated heating demand. Natural gas futures are up 18 percent over the past two weeks, to their highest level since July of 2011.

The deep chill blanketing much of the central and eastern U.S. is also reducing stocks of heating oil as homeowners crank up the thermostat and electric utilities burn it to avoid paying for natural gas.

Natural gas has skyrocketed to record prices of more than $100 per 1,000 cubic feet on the spot market in some regions.

That, in turn is leading to higher crude prices as traders anticipate that refineries will need to process more crude to meet heating oil demand.

"The weather factor is becoming an increasingly important driver," wrote energy analyst Jim Ritterbusch in a report Thursday.

How do you know this? The 2 stations near my house rose $0.40 overnight (from $2.99 to $3.39) but the graph shows no such $0.40 spike. What are you basing the above on? The Indy graph is almost identical to the Lexington graph in the recent spike.

PS - the station closest to the house has dropped $0.10 from $3.39 to $3.29 today....still $0.30 higher than it was just 48 hours ago.
I base it on a well documented history of deceit by mcowen along with not one shred of proof to support his claim. In the absence of corroborating evidence I assume honest people are telling me the truth and dishonest are lying to me, ergo Mcowen is lying yet again.

Note how he continues to thrash about like a monster dropped into a large vat of boiling lava without supporting his claim.

Nice chart Engineer. and I've never lied about gas prices.
Mwhuaha hahaa

We all know for an indisputable fact you have been banned for lying and specifically told to behave yourself in gas threads because of lying about gas prices. This is not even in dispute.

No doubt, Dave would post the most extreme high price (ie close to an airport) even though usually less than a half mile away the price would be a dollar or more less.

We went from 4 to 3 and you say were passing 5 and heading for 6?

Depends where you are if you read the threads and posts on the subject.

If you live in Texas you are paying less than $3 and pretty much have hardly ever seen gas higher than $3.

On the other side of the coin if you live on the West Coast, East Coast from D.C. north and the Midwest you never see gas less than $3 and normally closer to $4.

One thing certainly for sure, Texans should be forced to pay their fair share and have their prices raised.

Texans pay the same as anyone else in the US, wholesale price plus tax (federal/state) and transportation.

Maybe you should complain to your state's legislator to lower taxes on gas and urge them to support pipelines that would reduce transportation costs.

I'm amazed how many neighborhoods and houses live around the Exxon/Mobile plant in Lemont Illinois.

I used to drive by there on I-355 and you could choke on the fumes from that distance away and these people are just a few blocks from the place.

Pollution board denies Quinn's petcoke regulations

An Illinois pollution panel on Thursday rejected proposed emergency rules to control piles of petroleum coke along Chicago shipping channels, saying Gov. Pat Quinn and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency failed to prove there was an imminent threat to public health and safety.

Residents on Chicago's southeast side have complained about growing piles of petroleum coke, or "petcoke," saying they fear it can cause respiratory and other health problems and pollute waterways.

Their complaints gained attention from city and state officials in August, after petcoke blew into a neighborhood and a park.

The grainy black substance is a byproduct of oil refining, used as fuel in coal and cement plants or in products such as bricks and cement. The piles have been growing as nearby refineries process more oil from Canadian tar sands.

Quinn proposed rules last week to require terminals that store the petcoke to immediately install dust-suppression systems and prevent storm water runoff. He also wanted operators of petcoke and coal terminals throughout Illinois to fully enclose piles within two years.

But industry officials called Quinn's action "regulatory overreach"

Quinn's office issued a statement saying it was disappointed with the board's decision but is "reviewing alternative options (to) ensure that nobody has to live with harmful dust blowing into their community," but did not say what those options are.

I blanked them out as to not be a call out but it should be easy to figure out who they are.

I should add you to the ignore too.

What do all these Governors expect Obama to do?

Iowa calls for action on propane shortage

Propane supplies in the Midwest and Northeast are low following the cold spell earlier this winter. Prices are around record highs, up more than 17% from a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Ohio Governor John Kasich has already declared an energy emergency in his state to expedite propane shipments. Officials in 33 states from Minnesota to Maine have taken similar steps.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
