I had to do a double take on the Nuggets/Hornets score this morning when I checked yahoo.

Holy WTF Batman?!

I don't know if I've ever seen such a lopsided score. Losing by 20 is bad. 30 is worse. But losing a home game in the playoffs by 58 points....good grief!

Why even spend the money and time flying to Denver for the next game. Just end your season and sit on that memory for the next 6 months.

I didn't see the game, and of course it was more than one person, but I smell Billups' leadership all over this effort.

Byron Scott's Coach of the Year award from last year should be taken away from him for last night's embarrassment.

KB24MVP

BS. IF LBJ is not the MVP for his team and of the league, then they shouldn't even bother doing the stupid award. He even got Brown coach of the year FFS.

KT

James will get it this year. But it will be about as meaningless as Kobe's last year when all is said and done.
By that logic when is it ever not meaningless?

When your team wins the "big prize" at the end.
Nobody gives a shit who won the regular season MVP if you win the title. Hence even then it's still meaningless. Hence your original point of Kobe for MPV is also meaningless. Doubly so since they aren't going to beat Cleveland.

How'd the hell did I miss this thread?!?!?! omg. Anyways, I'm sorely disapointed at my Lakers. They played a TERRIBLE series. It's as if they only show up for 3 quarters for all the games. I really didn't see any heart in the team. I hope that changes. And wow @ the 58-point spanking on the Hornets on their home floor. WTF was that?

Actually, quite a few people "give a shit". Jersey sales go up after MVP is announced, other players respect the achievement, marketing deals increase, MVP is extremely influential in HoF consideration, some player contracts include bonuses for MVP, etc.

Yeah but Cleveland has been getting stronger ever since that game and right now look like the better team. I do think Utah was a tougher team than Detroit, but still, I rarely had the feeling of awe or absolute dominance watching the Lakers like I did watching the Cavs. We will see what the second round brings.

Cleveland reminds me a lot of last year's Boston in their attitude and energy. They fight, hustle, and rarely look apathetic. I can't say that about LA. LA lost last year because Boston wanted it more. If Cleveland beats LA it's because they wanted it more than LA again.

Exactly. I will definitely be interested to how the second round goes, though none of the teams they will be facing (Atlanta/Miami and Portland/Houston) look all that dangerous to me.

Woah. Ray Allen fouled out with 6:00+ minutes left to go.

Allen tried to do a 'john stockton' on 7-footer Miller, lol. With 5 fouls already, what a moron!

A huge loss for them. His end of game shots are the only reason why they are still in this series. Doc Rivers should have saved him for the end of the 4th.

Rose looking a bit more like a rookie on those two possessions.
