I personally don't think Golly-Gee-Wizz talk belongs in a vice presidential debate. It makes it feel like I cannot trust what she is saying. It takes away from the substance of what she says. I'm not looking for her to connect with soccer moms, I'm looking for leadership and a firm grasp of the issues this country needs to concentrate on. Golly Gee Wizz Beaver, did you do your chores? - has little place in the politics of high office.

Her incessant, almost overly excessive reading of her crib notes gave her little room for her golly gee wizz comments.

To paraphrase a columnist in today's paper (and this matches my observation), her answer to ANY question contained one (or some combination of) the following statements:

1. McCain is a maverick.
2. The surge worked.
3. Drill.
4. Taxes are bad.
5. This election is about ordinary people.

This is a short, easy to remember list. Pretty much any 6th grader could master it after several weeks of indoctrination by experienced political handlers.

ha....I particularly noticed 1 and 3. How she managed to turn every single question into "McCain is a maverick, just look at my record on energy in Alaska!", I'll never know.

Palin was more intelligent than I expected and her voice didn't irritate me that much. The Mom and apple pie stuff was way way too thick for my tastes though. I like her "spunk" and the fact that she's a Washington outsider...but have real difficulty visualizing her as our President if something should happen to McCain.

Biden surprised me...I was impressed with his knowledge, sincerity and passion. I did get pissed though when he blamed the Reps for the financial crisis (both parties were highly culpable IMO). I don't agree with him on several issues, but if he were running for President I would more than likely vote for him rather than any of these other schmucks.

I don't like this. It makes me uncomfortable in regards to how our system of checks and balances are supposed to work. It makes me believe that she is striving for more power in the Senate. Our country heavily depends on our system of checks and balances for survival and I really do not want anything to damage that which includes allowing the VP to have too much power and influence over the Senate. There is a proper balance to maintain and Palin just doesn't strike me as the type who believes in the kind of balance which I think is best for this country especially which makes statements like that combined with her history of how she prefers to use her power.

Thanks goodness Biden said, in a hugely watched television debate filled with caution, Dick Cheney is the most dangerous VP in history. That's a remarkable comment in that forum.

Your logic is a bit off. Maybe someone who is assassinating the president wants to hurt the country, so a bad VP would add to the incentive.

I find it a bit humorous that the default assumption today, after Bush, is that the person who shoots the president is trying to protect the country, so a bad VP is insurance.

Because of the way she is spinning it. She is trying to sell to us that because she is an "outsider" that the chances of things changing in Washington increased by a ton. That's the bullshit.

This is one of my biggest gripes about what America is turning to- a nation of pussies. An "Everybody wins" mentality that is destroying this great country. Now we have intellectual lightweights running for the Presidency and winning.
