It's a Fram...hahahaha

There was an 06 Viper double parked in front of this fancy hotel downtown the other night. My Minature Pinscher sniffed it's tire and then took a dump right beside the driver side door. True story, if anyone cares.

The sick fvck I am, I just laughed and walked off.

awesome car. But I still think the C6 Z06 is a much sexier car. I lust for that car. For some reason, I dont lust for this car.

I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not, but for what it's worth in Clarkson's DVD he pitted a Z4 M Coupe against the Viper and the Viper only beat it by a few inches. It was a short and technical course in favor of the BMW though.

Vipers have proven themselves MORE than capable on the race track. Do some searching for ORECA Vipers. I'd love to have one for a track car.

You can add Taisan to that list. Decent Team.

They need it precisely because they don't need it. If it wasn't excessive, it wouldn't be a Viper.

Why does any car need more than 50 bhp again?

He also raced a horse with a Mustang that was obviously the V6 variant while proclaiming it was the 300HP V8. When it comes to american versus their cars, I wouldnt trust a word out of his mouth. Everything in that film is biased. Did you not note how retarded the guy in the escalade drove? who in the right mind would try to climb that embankment especially when there was a much better spot about 10 feet forward.

8.4L produces 600HP! thats around 70HP per litre!... how did they only manage 600HP from 8.4 Litres!!!!!

My comment was towards the lack of efficiency.
Assuming comparable drivetrain weight, creating power with larger displacement at low rpm is more efficient than creating power with smaller displacement at higher rpm. That's why cars like the Viper and the Corvette can make the power they do while still getting 20+ mpg on the highway.

Plus, the thing has more torque at idle than most cars peak out at. That's what the Viper is all about.

Explain. And PLEASE tell me you have something better than the tired and completely retarded "horsepower per liter" argument. Please.

What logic does that follow? The worst thing with the old one, and they keep it. You guys are great.

I don't doubt for a second that it will look and sound awesome, and it will move forwards in a straight line very well too. But it already did that...

All i am saying is that generally american supercars follow a different way of making power. Need more power? Make it bigger. It seems like they are living in the past while Germany and Japan are using newer technology to make things more efficient, and sure, part of it is the HP/L, as worthless as it is in the real world, that is what it comes down to in racing where there are strict regulations on engine size. Why are there no american companies in F1? It makes me think they cannot compete with a strict set of rules and making 800+HP out of a 2.4L V8 or a 3.0L V10.

Hmm, ever hear of CART (which is now some ridiculously long name) or the IRL? By that same token, why can't Ferrari or Porsche make a big bore engine and compete in NASCAR or drag racing? You want to know why there aren't any american companies in F1? Several hundred million dollar budgets springs to mind, which won't get them much of a return as Europe will hate American cars regardless of them being in F1 and Americans just plain don't care about F1 that much.

As for efficiency, let's look. The 7.0 liter V8 in the Z06 vette makes roughly the same horsepower (and more torque than probably all of them) as the 4.0 liter V8 in the Ferrari F430, the 5.0 liter V10 in the Lambo Gallardo, and the 3.6 liter turbo flat 6, and yet it gets better gas mileage than all but the Porsche which it is basically even with.

Once again, assuming comparable weight, bigger displacement is the most efficient real world way to make additional power. Real world efficiency meaning gas mileage, as opposed to the artificial environments of racing circuits that limit engine displacement, thus forcing manufacturers to spin 2.4 liters at 19k rpm in order to make that 800+ hp. That might work fine on the track, but NOT in the real world.

The Z06 is better in almost every possible way and is cheaper to boot.

please tell me the engine packs much more horsepower/torque!

edit: the Z06 is probably still a better buy, but i would say the viper is still THE icon for "badass american car"

Yeah but the Viper is so much more fun.

It doesn't try to be anything but ass to the asphalt old school muscle.

When it comes to looks, the Viper is the Sarah Silverman of cars in my book.

If i had to choose one of them for an only car to drive it would have been the Z06 for other obvious reasons.
