I think you're way off base. There are lot more problems with the guys that never served in the military trying to act like they are in the military. In the military, you start off at the bottom, and earn each rank and the respect that accompanies it. Your average patrol officer completes a 16 week academy and is then put in a position where many see themselves as in charge of everyone they meet.

Also, female officers are 10x more likely to be shot with their own firearm, and most major metros don't let them patrol alone now. They must be partnered. (Insert famous video clip of female officer firing her handgun inches from a handcuffed suspects head on the ground)

You made a few good points on my military statement. I think you might be correct. I brought up my friend before, and I will bring him up again. His name is David Romeo. He has Napoleon complex. He's 5'7 and a police officer. Never served in the military. He was sergeant with many years in the force. He got convicted of kicking two men in the face after they were arrested. They were handcuffed, sitting on the sidewalk when he came up and just kicked them in the face. None of his co-workers stood up for him when he tried to weasel out of the mess he caused himself. He got fired from his job, and is serving 5 years in jail. He lost everything. His father is a retired cop, and his brother is currently a police officer. I've heard his father was a real POS. He also appealed last year and lost.

Throughout this process the white collar types are represented by attorneys. It's my understanding that the DA will notify the attorney(s) and have them bring in their client (white collar suspect). I suspect the 6th amendment right is involved here.

Other types of arrests are significantly different (e.g., 6th has yet been asserted etc.) and so a comparison is meaningless.

However, for 'show' white collar types have been subjected to a 'perp walk'. Given the lack of necessity etc I imagine such treatment for show results in complaints to the judge.

There was an incident a couple of years ago at my parents' apartment building where this guy was running around on his floor dressed in his wife's underwear and terrorizing his neighbors. When police came to arrest him they were turned away by management and instructed to come back in a non-descript car, enter in the back via the car garage, and not make a scene. By the time police returned the guy's lawyer was there and they negotiated him turning himself in a week later because he had a business trip to attend. Can you imagine police doing this in the projects???
