First of all remember, DO NOT sign up until October 15th when the 2 for 1 sale begins.

Here are their hosting plans.

How much bandwidth and website space you need all depends on how much you can afford, how much website traffic you anticipate, what kind of files are you going to have, lots of pics, videos, MP3's, text, applications, etc.?

Personally I'm going for the Small Site Hosting which costs $39.50 per year normally you'd get 200MB and 3GB/month bandwidth but between 10/15 - 10/31 that's DOUBLED FOR FREE to 400MB & 6GB. That should be plenty of traffic for my personal website or even a small forum.

And yes the bandwidth is reset to 0 at the end of every month.

Don't take this a craping. ;)

Before this sale was announced I had found a good priced host here I'm looking at the $40 a year site.

It is comparative to Dixie with the sale.

Does anyone have any info on them? Are there good or bad points between them?

Thanks

I was a complete webhost noob before the dixiesys thread appeared here the first time. In July I upgraded to the small reseller account. The (Plesk) control panel just had a few more selections but looked and felt like the user version. Below is a cut/paste from my account info. $10/mo

I would highly recommend DixieSys. The owner, Gary, is fantastic. Unlike cyberwings, Dixiesys actually is concerned with Monthly cash flow hahahaha :) And if he doesn't provide reliable service, he doesn't make money, and if he doesn't make money, his family doesn't eat. I love that type of motivation for an owner! :) But seriously, I do not believe the negative rumors, one bit! Dixiesys will not be another cyberwings.

I got in on this type of sale back in July and have been extremely pleased. The very few minor problems did experience, Gary and his staff resolved immediately after I contacted them.

2 thumbs up!

I was checking their chat room earlier today. The topic was:

#help Welcome to the Dixiesys help channel! --Server 7 9 and 13 will move to the new datacenter the week of Oct 7-11 (hopefully)
#help topic set by nysupport on Mon Oct 07 10:10:08

Maybe that has something to do with it. While I'm at it does dixiesys accept paypal?

i am on server 3 and many others on other servers felt it also so it is probably a system wide deal.

So it's a system wide deal which means it's not dixiesys server's, ta dah! The internet is a very complicated and huge network and something things don't move like they are supposed to. Good luck finding that perfect host, I'm please with dixiesys:D:D:D

not nesssesarily it could have been something like their router crashed. Etc. my other 2 sites are hosted by eicomm.net (the same company who hosts anandtech.com) and i pay 5.00 a month per site they have gone down once in about 2 years that i have noticed and that month they did not charge me anything! I had always heard about dixisys and so i figured i would give it a try for my new site, but this is unacceptable, I think i will be cancelling and going with eicomm.net again or get my own damn server setup to show dixie how it is done proper!

I want to create a site for my band. It will be a site that has pics, mp3s, bios, gig dates, etc. I am thinking about the Small Site plan(with the quota doubled of course). Do you folks think this is enough? Anybody else have a similar use of a site?

I have been hosting multiple sites with DixieSys this year. Rock solid and great support. They are also quite good at notifying customers about updates, upgrades, and any changes that might have a negative effect on your site. Very highly recommended!!!
