I guess it's hit or miss with this company.
Perhaps they are falling into the same boat as cyberwings, and the 2fers will be their downfall?
(remember, everyone said "don't worry about them" too, and all said "they are great"...until one day..)

I finally jumped in.
Was up in good time, but had a problem with one site.
Per dixiesys forums suggestion, submitted urgent help ticket.
Been 4 days, and still nothing. Help ticket still sitting open.

It's nice that Gary jumps when emailed, but I would rather follow the normal
method of service, just like the average person having troubles.

It's one thing to rant about service quality when you are poked.
But when not poked, and trying to get service the normal way, that tells the true story....

I am not posting here now with the hope that someone can solve my web problem.
That should be done through the help ticket.
Just a warning that things may not be so rosey.

What problem are you having?

As before, i highly recommend joining #help on irc.dixiesys.com

As for 4 days of waiting for a support ticket to clear - you can escalate those tickets!

As I stated, not trying to get problem fixed here in this forum, (thanks anyway).
It is a relatively simple problem, but stops me from getting email.
Could have corrected it myself with other hosts, but not with Dixiesys. Requires them to correct.

Why join irc?
Or better yet, why bother having help tickets if they are not used to resolve issues?

Escalate ticket from Urgent to Emergency? They say not to do that unless true emergency.
Are emergency tickets the only ones they look at? So until it's bumped to emergency, it will not get touched?

I'm just following the guidelines they laid out.
A website host is not even needed by me, but thought I would check them out.
Mainly just want to use advanced email and have some storage.
That is why I can wait to see how long it really takes to get problems solved, without resorting to getting problem
fixed simply by knowing someone that can pull some strings. (not meaning anyone specific, just in general).

Prior to submitting help ticket, I did go to dixiesys correct forum, and tried to get help there.
That's when a mod said I needed a help ticket to fix problem.
I really didn't even want to post anything here, because I thought that in itself may get the ball rolling towards fixing problem.
But as the days ticked away, I though it was time to inform about normal service experience that is unacceptable in my opinion.

I got the two for one deal a couple weeks ago and have found it to be worth the price. The Mysql wasn't working on my server and I submitted a ticket with Urgent and they responded with 2 hours. And that was at around 11pm. Over all it was solved in about a day. For the price this plan is great. The speeds are descent and the service so far has been great also. Great Hot Deal!

That's good news.
Even though help ticket still shows untouched, I will try again fresh, with a new help ticket.
Thanks.

EDIT:
Submitted another help ticket (47XX) with Subject: 2nd attempt. No response after 4 days to previous ticket.
Included previous help ticket number (46XX), and copied original help ticket about problem with catchall.

Within an hour received this response to last help ticket (47XX):
"opening more tickets to the same problem doesnt help..we ask nicely that you do not do this"
I take this to mean either they knew about problem, and for some reason were not correcting it, or they hadn't gotten to it yet.
And what's up with "we ask nicely"? How about, "We are sorry for the 4 day delay, it got lost" or something?
Instead they tell me to knock it off on the help requests.

Then, 3 minutes later, received this response in reference to initial help ticket (46XX):
"your catch all is back now"
(something got their attention).

Problem is solved.
But makes me wonder why it took so long, and why they say additional help tickets don't help, when it apparently did..
Also wonder if the Anandtech affect had anything to do with fixing problem.
Either way, not too good.

At least I'm done now. Good to go for now.
Just thought others should see this side of service as well as all of the praise.

I'm still having somewhat of a problem, but I think it's more on my end. If I go to mydomain.com, I can see my page ("welcome to your new page, blah blah, etc..."), but if I go to www.mydomain.com, I get my old page, which I was temporarily hosting for free at portland.co.uk...it's been over 48 hours, more like a week now...should I just keep waiting? Or could there be something else behind this? I didn't really do anything to 'cancel' the portland stuff...and I have been able to ftp to my new account fine...this is just kind of baffling me.

Please don't start comparing this to Cyberwings. I won't rant about the differences and reasons not to make such comparisons, but it's just not fair to Dixiesys.

they probably forgot to add the domain A record for "www" just start a ticket.

BTW, I am still waiting for them to actually fix one of the 2 sites. I can't log in because wrong domain was entered by me. But i think a month is long enough. I even told them to charge me. Hmmm. glad I don't exactly need it right away.
