why do people like to call complete strangers by their first name? You think it will score you support points? ;)

Hey Gary, how's Marge?

Will I be eligible for the 2 for 1 Deal if I upgrade my current small reseller status to medium reseller status? Its count as upgrade too, right?

Right, upgrades to larger accounts are a big reason for the sale, definitely.

BTW, some of my customers are asking about the data center? What kind of connections they are running?

This is straight from the owner in a post on WHT:
providers are verio, williams, cogent and one more coming soon

though I still don't know how to get refund from my upgrade......I have no record of which payment did I use....

Open a ticket at http://www.dixiehelp.com/helpdesk/ and give as much info about your original purchase and your new purchase as possible and we'll dig it up.

On our forums I just post as Gary so I think that is where it stems from.

Gary, I think he needs a lesson on what "unlimited" really is...... Care to chime in?

I try real hard not to comment negatively on other company's at least publicly :) but have you seen any infinitely large harddrives on pricewatch lately? haha Though I prefer to have my limits stated up front and with no doubts "if I use this much, then I'm over the line" rather than wondering when the line will be crossed.

Haha, yeah there are a bunch of furniture stores in town having their last "sale" as well...

A big mistake a shopper can make is assuming they won't ever be able to get a product because it won't be "on sale" ever again..

True, things change and I could back pedal on my future plans at any time, but no plans to at this point, but nothing in life is certain that's for sure. I've stated the plans for the future, and I'm planning to stick with it, only time will tell, of course that's true for everything in life.

Yes, from forums.dixiesys.com. Also from your signature too. :)
Beside it's weird calling somebody "hey Microsoft", "hey Dixiesys". I prefer the first name.

Usually I'd go for the free double space/bandwidth but this time I think I'll get the 2 for 1 deal. Pay for 1 account, you get 2.

These will mostly be used to display auction pictures, descriptions and most importantly web e-mail.

Other than Squirrel Mail what are some other WEB E-MAIL options? Ideally I want something like Yahoo's e-mail system.

I believe Squirrel Mail is the BEST Email system there is. I set my isp mail up to work with Squirrel Mail, and now I can check my ISP mail like I can check my hotmail; from any computer. What features are you looking for specifically?

How does prepayment for 1 year renew? @ the same time next year? If you/they are still in business?
Can we opt to renew by ourselves instead?

Terms of Payment

Terms of Payment

A credit card User agrees to allow "Dixie Internet" to bill his or her card on each successive billing date without obtaining User's permission after the initial charge

Also, Frontpage 2002 extensions is supported, does it mean they are backwards compatible or will support only 02 versions? Specifically, will it support FP2000?

thank u.

Is it possible to get the doubled $19.99/year plan with $2 for an additional 2GB instead of 1GB(assuming the 2 for 1 deal holds true for the options)?

Also, I did get shafted by that cyberwings incident, and still have a domain somewhere (I used their domain service thing).. how would I go about transfering that domain to work with dixiesys?

Thanks. :)

You renew your self. If you read all the stuff at their site you will find out allot of info. They start sending you email starting so many days prior to your year end.

I just signed up and am so far very happy. The support you get between the ticket system, forums, and irc are very helpfull.

I was just wondering, but it seems like dixiesys has been running slower for awhile now. I use it to host pics and other stuff. When I first started the account, pages would pop right up. Now it seems like its crawling.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this also. Maybe its just me...

Thanks

Yes, I have noticed it has been slower. Not to the point of crawling, but sometimes it does take a while for some of my web pages to load up. Particularly my squirrelmail is inconsistent.

It says:

Action canceled
Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable.

I did find from doing a whois that it was registered through Domains Priced Right..

EDIT - Err.. tried another whois with someone else, and it's registered through Go Daddy Software..

Having a hard time chossing between a small reseller account or a 2 small webhosting sites. I got in on the last 2 for 1 and got a double quota for a small site. Anyone know if I go with 2 small webhosting sites I could switch my current domain from my doubled acct from the last 2 for 1 to the one of the 2 accts I would get this time? I don't need the amount of space I currently have for my personal site for family.

I was in the same situation back then. I end up with small reseller account, because it give you more felxibility. Also I learn the way how to be a hosting reseller. I did sold some hosting to my friends.

the new accounts are going on higher number servers, like the ones we got yesterday are on server 21
server 12 has been a problem and they're supposed to be moving the bandwidth hogs to another server. if you are unhappy you can enter a support ticket to get moved to another server. might have to update your scripts or something...
this is from reading on their support forums. i am not affilliated with them

With cable, U lose maximum 15 minutes of a rented DVD, 1/8 th of $3 rental value!

With Web Hosting, U could potentially lose $300 a pop for each customer, depending on what you're selling!!!

Just my 2 cents, given this Web Host company has this much backing & "testiclemonies" that it has. :)

Is it really worth what you pay for if you lose just one customer in a month?!?!

We are temporarily experiencing difficulties.
We will be back online shortly.

This outage affects only our domain name website. The services we provide such as website hosting, email, and webmail are functioning just fine.

ok, so I'll go pay 4x the price at register.com

If you're making $300 a customer, then we're not the place to host your web site, and frankly you should be ashamed of yourself for even looking at hosting companies in our price range. Get yourself to a server with guaranteed SLA and redundant listeners and redundant file servers and all that jazz.

We're not the place to host some ecommerce site where you're gonna lose "thousands of dollars an hour" geeze man keep it in perspective. We're the place to host your hobby site, or a nice forum, even a business web site but good lord man, if you're running an ecommerce site where a customer is $300 and being down 15 minutes is REALLY likely to cost you a customer or two go host with someone like Verio or one of the big Ecommerce ready big boys.

You don't buy a Ford Escort to use for a Taxi.
