On reflection, isn't this the behavior we want rich people to exhibit? Spend it as fast as you make it, flood the local economy with cash, it doesn't matter how it's spent, as long as they are relieved of it.

I suppose if I had a good paying job that depends on spoiled brats spending their parents money, well then if I did then I would agree with you.

@Homerboy lol I could extol all of his virtues but it boils down to "he's damned expensive."

Mine mostly costs me $$ through food, travel baseball and medical bills (lots of injuries/issues). Luckily he isn't overly social so things like prom etc aren't in the equation.

My mother gave me $2 a week. :(

Yeah my parents were poor growing up too, we(me and my bro) could earn up to $10 a week but had to bust our asses to do it, we had a chores list to do and each item was worth some cash, with the total being $10 a week if we did all chores. And doing all the chores was about 7-10 hours of work a week.

Did anyone watch the show? It was pretty epic, first time I ever liked watching Dr. Phil and laughed a lot.

That girl is hilarious! Every time she'd talk about getting a job she'd start to cry and then she'd whine about not wanting to start at the bottom because she's better than that. she had 0 redeeming qualities about her,she is a pure 100% waste of oxygen that will leech off whatever she can get.

I'm sure it's staged - what half decent mother/father would subject themselves to TV shows as stupid as Dr. Phil? I put it right up there with Maury.

That aside, stories like this are just like the Affluenza drunk driver.

Mine wasn't until a couple of months ago. She's not good enough for him.;)

$500 prom or $500 for a new bat....you've got the better deal.

All I see in this thread is a bunch of lazy poors, jealous of this girls wealth.

She’s rich, so she’s better than you
Her parents are rich, so they are better than you.

That’s prosperity gospel 101.
If they weren’t better than you they wouldn’t be rich.
If you people weren’t so lazy and jealous you’d be rich.

Instead you miss the big picture. If your betters can’t afford $5000 a month and better than a C class for their daughter they need a bigger tax cut. Need to cut your lazy ass social security so people can be free to be rich.

To a certain extent... but after a while they run out of money - but they were once trusted with a shit ton of credit because they previously had the means to pay it... Then they rack up $2million in debt and then file for bankruptcy and it magically goes away...

I guess it's overall beneficial to the economy, but I would guess the inevitable bankruptcy later might sting a bit.

Well the girl didn't start to be like this overnight. Definitely the result of some parenting, or should I say, lack of it. I'm sure since the time she was in the crib she's been allowed to do whatever the heck she wants and rarely hears the word "no" or "too bad." I think it's ridiculous but hey, what do you expect? Meh.

Mom probably works all the time so isn't around to even say no, it has probably been easier to just give the kid a pile of money and let her do as she pleases. The fact that the mother allowed her to take online classes instead of going to school because school "traumatizes" her is very telling. My parents would have actually traumatized me if I tried to pull some shit like that.

Time to soylent green this person. will never be anything but useless her whole life.

Hopefully she is refining her bedroom skills so that maybe she will at least be able to be some rich guys arm candy and use his money to keep contributing to the economy.

If I was the mom I'd pay some truly poor people to take her in for a few weeks and show her what living like a "peasant" is really like.

Good news! He's a pitcher only now so bats aren't even in the equation. And when does need to swing a bat, he prefers wood so $100! :)

When I played baseball (hated it) we used a bat. Each team might have brought one but I think everybody just used the bat that the first kid used. Now it appears that each kid brings their own bat? Weird. I guess parents have to show off.

I laughed when Dr Phil suggested she get a job and she started sobbing “Nooooo! I don’t want a job. That’s too much work!”

I'll make you a deal, I'll pay for all of your kids dances for the rest of his high school years if you cover a single year of my daughters travel ball.

My oldest plays travel softball and man is that shit expensive. Bats aren't quite $500 yet in softball (not sure about baseball) but they are $300-$350 for the latest which of course she must have every year. Two $100 pairs of cleats because some tournaments don't allow metal cleats, $150 glove, $125 bag, $75 sunglasses and who knows how much in other odds and ends. Then you have the team fees, hotel costs every other weakend during the main season and every 3rdish week the rest of the year with a 6ish week break around Xmas. Then you have all of the money you spend eating while you are out of town and food/drinks at the park, gas, plate fees if they aren't included in your yearly team fee, etc. Oh yeah, there is also the private pitching coach she goes to but considering all the other costs that is pennies.

That's just every morning for me. :D

Same... difference is, I kinda like living with amazing privileges like.... being able to afford groceries... mortgage... buying a new NAS with 32 TB of data... :)

Which inspires me to get up and do that work stuff....

Let me see....I think this quote sums it up.
that would be a solid "No".
:D

Travel ball is nuts. A friends kid played travel hockey. They even went to Canada a couple of times. WTH? The kid was 15y.o. More $$ that me.

I thought you guys were exaggerating about the price of bats so I went and looked them up. WTF?

https://www.amazon.com/Easton-LCN10-Stealth-Hitter-Baseball/dp/B0017TZII2/

I'm not sure what that is but it isn't normal. In softball, which is generally about the same cost as far as bats go, the latest and greatest are $350-$400 when they first come out and usually drop (and stay) to $300 after a while. I've seen a few for $450 but that's about the most when buying from an authorized seller like justbats.com.

I have seen other parents spend a lot more on eBay for a really hot bat because it was sold out but the saner of us won't do that. A while back there was a fad of "rolling" bats to break them in and even make them hotter than what was allowed so some parents were spending another $100-$150 for that but most high-end composite bats today don't require much of a break in.

The upside is there are lots and lots of hot moms at the field, some single and lots with husbands that don't pay them much attention.

Different kids need different lengths and even if two kids swing the same length one might do much better with a lighter or heavier bat. When you are spending at least a two thousand dollars a month for your kid to play just in travel expenditures you kinda want them to have the equipment that lets them perform their best.
