But I may turn my machine on to WCG in a day or two, because of pending credit. This isn't like a PrimeGrid race where you have to wait to start downloading work and building results.

I just got a Sapphire badge for Mapping Cancer Markers, in WCG. At least, that's what BOINC told me. Should I trust the Notices? LOL.

BOINC let's you cheat a little for a race, you can disable network communications (assuming you have enough tasks to last 24 hours), and then re-enable the network once the race starts, giving you a cache of finished tasks to dump at the start of the race. :)

The setting is under "Activity" on the advance BOINC manager.

Well, since I can do the entire queue in less than 6 hours, I should wait until then. Right ? you can;t queue more than one entire "package" ?

I have about 140 WUs ready to flush on this computer, and more on my laptop.

Mark, I can't speak for the linux client, but in windows, go to BOINC manager/Options/Computing preferences, and in the lower section called Other, set your "Store at least:" to 10 days. They have a limit on tasks in progress, but I got enough for 2.5 days on all my rigs. You can set that back to 1 day or whatever, after the race starts.

Well played Ken! :D I've got 1025 ready to flush, but I am only running the Zika sub-project, which only take about 2 hours each.

I told it 3 days and 3 days for the 2 options, queueing now for 20 cores.

Incase I missed it, what's the actual start time for the contest and time zone. Don't want to dump these Wu's too soon. All tasks were completed this morning so I am idle until the show starts.

I understand it as 00:00 Nov 16th UTC time. So for me in CST it is 6:00 pm today. Hope I have this right.

Is there a cheat sheet for dummies like me that haven't made time to figure this out? I'll put some stuff to work on it, just been very busy.

Not really crashtech, just open the BOINC manager/Tools/Add Project and select World Community Grid (worldcommunitygrid.org), and sign up, making sure to join the TeAm Anandtech. There is a limited bit of customization, such as choosing a particular project to crunch. Some project tasks are upward of 12 hours, some, 2 hours. Zika is a 2 hour task, Tuberculosis is about 2 hours if you can get any of those (limited), mapping cancer markers is 2-4 hours I think.

http://join.worldcommunitygrid.org?recruiterId=950425&teamId=SHNW8R84S1 is supposed to get you joined up and directly link you to the team, but it also gives me credit for recruiting you, which I didn't realize when I posted that link earlier in this thread.

Here is my past distribution at 800k WCG points

Flush the work units? Is there a how-to in this thread? I have too many things going at once...

BTW, Tony, I used the link you provided here in the office, and it loaded a customized version of BOINC, I think, with IBM branding. I assume other machines which have vanilla BOINC on them will work just as well, though the instructions for dumping the WUs might be different.
