OK, I got my KVM installed, and something is running, but system monitor sasy 100% CPU on 24 cores. but does not have % on any task ! How do I tell what is running ?

But I found the boinc manager, and added the project, and says 4:15 remaining. Is that good ? And I still don't have any idea whats actually running, no %, but all cpu's are at 100%

OK, I figured out how to say show all users, and it was F@H running. 24 cores get 3,760 ppd (probably an old unit with no bonus, but who cares now), I paused it.

Now its 1,75% done with WCG in 9 minutes, Is this good ? an I wasting electricity by running it ?

And can you verify that I joined Anandtech team ? markfw900 user login

I was going to link to the WCG website to have you verify there you've joined the TeAm, but...there website is confusing and I could find my OWN information, lol.

Tasks vary, can be 2 hours to 14+ hours. You can also choose which sub-projects you wish to participate in on the website. 1.75% in 9 minutes looks good to me.

OK, the first "packet" took 6 hours 10 minutes, and now I am up to 5,243 points in those 6 hours.

OK, so it looks like I am doing somewhere around 22,000 ppd. The CPU utilization is not anywhere close to 100%, its like a sine wave. Just guessing 65-75% average. Why ?? (24 cores) only using 2 of 12 gig of memory, installed on an SSD, and running ubuntu. How do you paste a screen copy in ubuntu ? The equivalent of paint.

I see you, Mark! You're 123rd, on the second page of the FreeDC Stats.

My favorite Paint equivalent is KolourPaint. A lot simpler than GIMP.

Ken I tried to google and install Koulourpaint4, and here is as far as I got:

mark@mark-dual-e5570:~$ sudo apt-get install KolourPaint4
[sudo] password for mark:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package KolourPaint4

Code:
$ sudo apt-get install synaptic
Then run Synaptic. Then you can find and install packages much more easily. (There's a utility in Ubuntu too, but I could never use it.)

Edit: For kolourpaint4, try not using capitals, like I just did.

OK, I got a screenshot somehow, emailed it to myself, and made a jpeg from it on my PC. So what in the world is going on here with the cpu utilization ? nothing else is running.

Ugh, use advanced mode in Boinc Manager. I'm not sure how you get there at this point - I've never used that simple mode.

Then go to Options -> Computing Preferences, and make sure there are "100%"s under Usage limits under Computing.

Well, in the screen shot above, if you click project commands then update, its supposed to bring up a menu, but it does nothing.

And when are the stats updated in WCG ? and in Free-DC ?

LOL. Yeah, uhm, forgot to mention WCG has internal points, and then that figure is reduced by a factor of....at least 6 I think...for BOINC points, to better align with the point system the older BOINC projects adhere to.

I've been freaking out over here, every time you reported your est ppd. :D I was deeply concerned how you were nearly matching my output with just one machine. Now I know you were using the internal points, and can quitting hitting the inhaler/doubling the blood pressure medicine.

Ya. BOINC points are WCG points ÷7. o_O Why? Who knows, they don't score that high to begin with. Oh well we are all on the same playing field. :)

BOINC provides a reference about credit and its relation to FLOPS here. However, you should know that seven (7) World Community Grid points are equal to one (1) BOINC credit.

BOINC's unit of credit, the Cobblestone (named after Jeff Cobb of SETI@home), is 1/200 day of CPU time on a reference computer that does 1,000 MFLOPS based on the Whetstone benchmark

well, I did turn on the 20 cores or so not used on the machine for my 290. Boinc and F@H are doing OK together on the same box. Might be loosing 10-20k ppd on the 290, but I will turn them both off after the WCG race. Its HOT in here. 50 outside, 76 inside ! And that with 3 windows and the front door open !

So my ppd for today in WCG should be the final. as of 10 hours ago.

Edit, same last update as geecee, a little over 1800

Tony What is with free-dc stats ? was zero for a long time, now it shows me at 7368 and you at 9422 FOR THE DAY.

Can this be right ?

My average is 29k daily (running only the Zika virus tasks). Sounds about right for the mid-day update, I ran out of tasks (my fault) for who knows how long yesterday. A little high for you though, if you're still just running 20 tasks, but it could be due to the project tasks you were assigned. All that being said, Free-DC can be very flakey sometimes.

It's a very low scoring project I'm afraid.

I have 44 cpu's going. Is that 44 tasks ?

Edit: and it would help the WCG, I have 20 more I could take off F@H (only 38k ppd) and add to WCG

2 are hyperthreaded, the AND one (20 cores) are real (sort of, 6234's)
