6 miles last night on the treadmill. Snow I can live with, but not icy streets after dark.

+4 last night on the treadmill.

Just curious, do you find it harder to run on a treadmill than running outside? By harder, I mean physically. I find that my pace is a good bit slower and I have a hard time getting my desired distance in as well. I am always wrecked the next day after treadmill running also. It seems like it should be easier, but it sure isn't for me.

Most times, no, but more recently, yes. I don't know if it's just the general fatigue from my current high-mileage training cycle, or the fact that the air outside is now a lot cooler than inside my house, and I run a lot better in the cooler air.

Despite running a marathon on Monday, despite finding out my gf was cheating on me and ending that last night, despite all that, I went out and ran a Christmas themed 10K that my hospital was sponsoring and set a PR of 52:35! Two minutes faster than my previous. It was very therapeutic to say the least.

Sorry to hear that, TraumaRN, but good job with the race. Running clears the head, probably due to the lactic acidosis and hypoxemia.

Took last week off, but ran a 10 mile trail race this morning. Got beat up hard, but came in just a hair under 1:30.

Very sorry to hear about your GF. :( But congrats on the PR!!

Good luck with the trail marathon!
Thanks. I ran 3 miles today, I wanted to go slow but 9mm was as slow as my legs would carry me. Let's hope I feel that way tomorrow with this cold coming on.

Congratulations on the PR, and I'm sorry to hear about the GF. Better to find out now, I suppose, than after you'd married her!

+26.2 today

Finished the Richmond Marathon in 3:19:27, a time which I would not have imagined was even possible for me when I ran this same marathon last year as my first. I'm beyond excited to hit that time, which will also qualify me for Boston in 2015. My wife also finished her first half marathon and it was my birthday. Can't think of a better way to have celebrated it.

First congrats and happy birthday Mursilis!!

Secondly ran another 10K just around town this morning kept it easy as I could, not to whine about the breakup but running was tough this morning until I hit about mile 2 and just tried to funnel the pain and emotions into running. Helped a bit I guess. 56 minute 10K. Finished with 44 miles for the last 7 days, and physically I feel just fine. Mentally/emotionally I'm a wreck. Just keep reminding myself my 50K is in 7 weeks and to keep pushing for that.

Ran a 10K this afternoon. We had very strong sustained winds (25 mph or so) plus gusts up to 40 or so. Made for an interesting run. Ended up finishing in 51:30, third in my age group.

Fantastic! Congrats and happy birthday.

My race was an epic failure. I started to get sick on Friday. When I woke up yesterday for the race I was really ill but went anyways. I got thru the first half under my goal time but by mile 9 I was having to work overly hard to keep up the pace. By mile 14 my stomach started to rebel, I turned around at 14.4 and "hot footed" it to the closest restroom where all manners of hell broke loose. I started to pass out on the john but kept myself together long enough to get back to my car where I then passed out. 2 hours later a park ranger found me and was on the verge of calling for assistance. I did manage to drive myself home though and I stayed home from work sick. Not a banner day at all fellas. :(

14.4 miles though.

Wow. Glad you made it home OK. That sounds like no kind of fun at all and is a testament to your dedication (or stubbornness, not sure which is more apt in this case!).

+10.1 miles in 1:33 flat on the trails around Grosse Ile. Thanks to recent rains I nearly wiped out on 4 different occasions and parts of the trail were like a muddy version of a slip and slide. Was only 34F when I ran so glad I didn't fall into the wet mud.

Back at it as of today. 4.1 miles with lungs that felt like they were filled with ballistic gel. Felt really weird.

Get better, Mega! And thanks to all for the encouragement - it's been a great year for running.

Finally back at it. +4 easy recovery miles on the treadmill. Props to all you people pounding the ground outside as the temps drop!
